Caitlin Clark was, as she usually is whenever she steps on the court, the story of the night - and with no on-court altercations or extra-curricular activity, the Iowa native just let it fly all evening long.
The No. 1 overall pick from this year's WNBA draft dropped 30 points in a 85-83 victory over the Washington Mystics on Friday night in Commissioner's Cup action.
Clark also had eight rebounds and six assists along with eight costly turnovers - double the next closest player - that kept the game close.
She iced the game late - hitting three out of four free throws in the final eleven seconds to keep the Mystics at bay and capping off a night where she went 8-15 from the field and 7-13 from beyond the arc.
Those seven triples tied a rookie record held concurrently with Crystal Robinson, formerly of the New York Liberty.

Dropping dimes is assists.
Dopping points is scoring.
This is one of those time when I actually think a woman can compete with the men at least on the 3 point shots.
My suggestion — Let her compete in the NBA all-star three point shooting tournament.
Caitlin Clark could even win this competition.

WNBA has been in business over 20 years and people have not been watching it in any significant numbers over that time.
That ain’t gonna change. 20+ years is plenty of time to declare failure.
The same thing may have happened to the WNBA with CC, but it looks like they may kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.
The WNBA exists for the same reason supermarkets were forced to put social distancing stickers on their floor, or else receive a fine.
It exists for the same reason that, despite the fact that sexual reassignment surgery has been around since the early 60’s, it’s only in the past few years that doctors, hospitals, and medical associations started pushing the idea that it’s “an essential part of pediatric care’ for children who were “born the wrong sex” to be given the opportunity to transition before puberty.
Powerful forces want the WNBA to exist, so it exists. Women playing basketball is unfeminine. It’s only constructive purpose is to provide exercise and scholarships for college students. But nobody really wants to watch it.
But our evil ruling class wants to see women doing unfeminine things. Just like they want every corporate store to hire the most flaming queens.
If they play the game as it was envisioned instead of thugball she might last long enough to make her deal with Nike worth a lot to Nike.
I watched the highlights...lot of missed shots for all players, weak rebounding, many long distance layups, some palming of the ball...but wasn’t that bad...good passing, and outlet passes, good dribbling skills, a few blocked passes and shots,..but any cities all star young mans high school team would easily beat them. In fact, I would guess if the boys used a full court press, the women might not even get to the front court. Nevertheless, the woman’s game is ok to watch.....IMHO..

NBA ball is slightly larger and heavier than wNBA ball...the 3 point line is closer to the basket in wNBA vs NBA.....hoop diameter is same for both (18”)....same height off the floor...but it would be interesting to watch the skill levels using each leagues respective standards...the women are definitely skilled using their standards
The boys won their championship based on speed and tenaciousness. The goals IIRC were just getting on the net fast and guys in position to put in a rebound. Very scrappy.

I hate dunking, Should make the basketball hoop 2 feet taller in men’s game. Only shooter would be playing, like it was when the game first started.
