First, my wife is a psychiatrist at a major hospital, often covered the ER, and was responsible for many involuntary commitments. It is often necessary to protect patients and family members from harm. Failure to do this would have been malpractice.

The problem is most often in rural hospitals where they do not have professionals to handles the patients so they ship the patient several hours away to a city hospital where they are quickly transferred to a psychiatric inpatient facility. These places often cut off all contact with families.

I’ve personally spoken with patients who were repeatedly raped while drugged up and in these facilities. They are not safe places to be.

I’ve also known patients who were active duty military with severe PTSD that were shot multiple times by police as they didn’t understand basic mental health procedures for diffusing a patients anger or rage.

Your psychistrist wife was undoubtedly on the receiving end of “collateral information” from self-interested wives advised by attorneys on how through deception and mendacity to gain an irreversible advantage over their husbands in family court in terms of
achieving temporary full child custody and utterly destroying their husbands’ relationships with his own children.

How did she feel about being part of a family-destroying machine?

“. These places often cut off all contact with families.”

why do these places do this? That is what this article spoke about. Does your wife say why? That just makes the matters worse. Loved ones not knowing where their family member is and the sick person not getting support.

The problem is most often in rural hospitals

This in not in a rural hospital. This is in a big city hospital in a major metropolitan area.

This is just a lying SOB and a system that protects him because they make money off the situation.
