"It's not a particularly common cancer," says Mark Truty, M.D., a surgical oncologist at Mayo Clinic. "The lifetime risk of pancreatic cancer for any given patient without any predisposing risk is only 1 to 3%."

According to the National Cancer Institute, pancreatic cancer accounts for 3.2% of all new cancer cases, but it causes nearly 8% of all cancer deaths. And the five-year survival rate for pancreatic cancer is just 10.8%.

Here are five things everyone should know about this deadly cancer:

"She’s the one who treated her staff terribly. I wonder if she regrets that now?"

With her long-time arrogance, and self-serving personality, I doubt she'lll even give it a second thought.

He had a very curable cancer-it was in the tail and not the head. He decided he was going to treat it holistically. It cost him his life. What an idiot.

My wife was diagnosed 5 years ago.

She had a whipple and a bunch of chemo.

After next week’s scan, she goes to annual scans.

People DO survive. Just not enough.

A teacher friend of my wife’s had it. She was an elementary school teacher, but just a very smart lady, wonderful person. She lasted over 5 years and had a good life quality during that time.

Alex Trebek did live longer than many people who are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at stage 4, but he succumbed to the disease on Sunday morning, dying at his home at the age of 80. Twenty months elapsed between his diagnosis and his death Nov 11, 2020.

No, because Pancreatic cancer is equal opportunity (DEI).

Take Vitamin D3 every single morning, people!

I have not had so much as a cold in the past 8 years, and I attribute it 100% to that regimen. It has also been proven in studies to reduce the incidence of pancreatic cancer.

Below is by far the best brand. You need only 1-2 drops per day. Take it as soon as you wake up...

“He decided he was going to treat it holistically.”

Don’t automatically toss out all non-cancer industry approaches.

For example, IP-6 and inositol (supplements) have some impressive evidence for anti+cancer activity, both in terms of published research and a vast number of personal anecdotes.

That’s good. I just hear nightmare scenarios with that particular cancer. I’m glad she was able to have a great quality of life longer.

My grandmother died of it about 1971. I think she made it about 9 months after diagnosis.

Our neighbor had it and is now cancer free. It was discovered by accident while doing some other test or scan. It was very early and very small yet he still went through a lot of treatments for maybe 9 months or a year?

My wife is a nutritionist and recommended this brand. Ironically, she usually forgets to take it. I remind her, but she gets colds too often as she works a lot w young kids.

It’s just opinion. Besides, many people who supplement with D experience cancers. Of course, without the extra D it might be worse (I do believe this and I think retrospective data does show an association).

I have a buddy who’s had two run-ins with PC over the past five years. The first time it was caught early when they were looking for something else. His first surgery was quite intrusive, but his second was a non-invasive ablation.

Self flattery is so unseemly. Especially when it’s undeserved. I merely comment when I have the misfortune of encountering the trail of snark you leave behind you when we happen to cross paths here.
