Hunter Biden’s defense lawyers reiterated their stance Friday that the Special Counsel’s Office should not be allowed to rail against his “extravagant lifestyle” at his nearing Delaware gun trial by bringing up prejudicial and “salacious” allegations of spending on “adult entertainment” and “escort services.”
The filing comes two days after special counsel David Weiss rejected the notion that the words “extravagant lifestyle” are necessarily prejudicial. Prosecutors warned that they do intend to use “relevant evidence” of Biden’s spending at trial, coupled with the “admissions” about crack addiction in Biden’s book “Beautiful Things.”
Here’s how Weiss forecast his intentions regarding evidence that he says will support the charges that President Joe Biden’s son unlawfully purchased and possessed a firearm in 2018 while “knowing” he was addicted to drugs:
At trial the government’s proof will include some evidence that the defendant was spending money, including, but not limited to: the defendant spent large sums of cash on drugs and drug paraphernalia; the defendant was staying at hotels while traveling with a witness who observed his drug use; the defendant withdrew sums of cash from ATMs in locations that are consistent with his described whereabouts in his book, including in Delaware around the time of the gun purchase; the defendant withdrew cash prior to his purchase of the firearm at issue in this case; the defendant tendered $900 in cash when he bought the gun; and the defendant was living a life as he described it in excerpts of the book identified in the government’s motion to admit.
As Biden’s defense saw it in a motion in limine, U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika should bar prosecutors from making “any argument, reference, or questioning at trial,” scheduled to begin on June 3, “regarding his alleged spending on an ‘extravagant lifestyle’ during periods that...

Hunter Biden will be a prominent talking point for former President Trump during his debate with President Biden next month, insiders told The Post.
Their first of two scheduled clashes will take place at CNN headquarters in Atlanta on June 27, just weeks before Hunter is scheduled to go on trial for federal gun charges.
“Either Joe or the CNN moderators will try and bring up one of Trump’s legal cases — that’s sort of a given — and Trump will throw it right back at them about Hunter Biden’s ongoing legal troubles and all the evidence that Joe lied during the last debate when he said his son never took money from China,” said one Trump insider.
“it’s an easy way to draw blood from Joe Biden when Trump legal stuff comes up. It’s a full proof defense and way to make Biden pay,” the insider added.
Hunter Biden’s laptop — once dismissed as Russian propaganda — will now be a central part of special counsel David Weiss’ case against the first son.
“The defendant’s theory about the laptop is a conspiracy theory with no supporting evidence,” Weiss said in a prosecution filing Wednesday. Hunter’s “laptop is real (it will be introduced as a trial exhibit) and it contains significant evidence of the defendant’s guilt.”
Hunter will face a second federal trial for tax evasion which is set to begin Sept. 5. Biden and Trump will square off on ABC just five days later.

Some legal experts argue that the level of personal details in the filings ahead of Hunter Biden’s criminal trials are meant to embarrass rather than prosecute, a feeling shared by many people close to the president’s family.
The revelations are particularly painful for a family that prefers family matters to be guarded and can quickly exit people who break the code.
Hunter’s ex-wife Kathleen Buhle wrote in her 2022 memoir when instructing her mother not to reveal that Beau Biden was sick: “After twenty years with the Bidens, I knew that everything in the family was meant to stay private.”

One filing on May 20 includes a text message Hunter sent to Hallie on November 3, 2018: “I’m a liar and a thief and a blamer and a user and I’m delusional and an addict unlike beyond and above all other addicts that you know and I’ve ruined every relationship I’ve ever cherished.”
Yes, but the prosecution needs to introduce proof of said drug use.
This opens up the submission of excerpts from Hunter’s book, and his own words, in which the drug use is entangled throughout the description of his whoring & lavish spending.
It’s not reasonable of the court to require those facts be separated out from each other.
