Hitting 150 mph is tough. Stopping from 150 mph is even more punishing. Which is why we decided to do both, back to back.
00:00 Intro
01:44 History and testing methodology
03:43 Honda Civic Type R, 52.7 sec
04:50 Hyundai Elantra N, 47.0 sec
05:49 Volkswagen Golf R, 40.2 sec
06:46 Bentley Bentayga S, 32.8 sec
07:50 Kia EV6 GT, 31.2 sec
08:43 Toyota GR Supra, 31.1 sec
09:34 Ford Mustang Dark Horse, 29.7 sec
11:07 Bentley Continental GT Speed, 24.8 sec
12:07 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, 24.7 sec
13:09 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, 24.4 sec
14:33 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, 22.5 sec
15:56 Porsche 911 Turbo S, 19.3 sec and 200 mph
19:02 Where's the Tesla Model S Plaid and Lucid Air Sapphire?
My car, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing did 24.7 seconds. I have never had mine over 150 mph, I swear.
Now try a Shelby Cobra..
Which one, the 350 or the 500?
I don’t think we are talking Cobra and Shelby Mustang Cobra.
How about a Kawasaki Hyabusa?
Anything electric
The real ones were either 289 or 427 Fords.
And I’m an old big block Chevy street racer.
That’s a Suzuki.
As far as hauling it back down from 150, I really don't know. At Road America, coming into 5 I'm braking hard enough to float the back tire from about 170 to 50 or so, but I'm not sure how long it's taking. I'm more focused on setting up for the corner.
“19:02 Where’s the Tesla Model S Plaid and Lucid Air Sapphire?”
Plaid: Quarter mile. 9 seconds 154 mph
“Which one, the 350 or the 500?”
Those aren’t Cobras.
“Shelby Mustang Cobra.”
None
427 Cobra 0-100-0 10 seconds in 1967
“427 Cobra 0-100-0 10 seconds in 1967?
?
Cadillac CT-5-V Blackwing 1/4 mile 11.4 sec, 128 mph. Probably a small bit faster than a 427 Cobra 0-100 10.0 sec.
With modern tires I wonder what the 427 Cobra could do.
Trying to beat the 427 cobra? I assume it has been done but it will be a hellofa car to do it.
I don’t think bias-ply drag slicks have changed that much. There are radial drag slicks now, but aren’t necessarily quicker.
Not sure what type of tires were used in the 427.
