Cicadas pose a risk because they’re closely related to crustaceans like shrimp and lobster: Insects and crustaceans are both arthropods, and researchers say they probably shared a common ocean-dwelling ancestor millions of years ago.

I was in Pennsylvania in the 1980s Cicada event. Local news report had a guy frying them in olive oil and garlic

If you eat too many, they could be harmful. If you eat too many hamburgers, it could be harmful. If you drink too much water, it could be harmful.
Human is generally very greasy; almost too fatty to eat.
My chickens eat the bugs, and I eat the eggs. So, I’m eating the bugs indirectly.
Now that is funny!
That makes more sense than what I wrote, because of human diets. I based my opinion on one article from many years ago.
That is the same way I get my vegetables.
Our Chihuahua loves them. 😆
