All decapods and crustaceans are closer to insects than any other arthropods by DNA they share 99.9-99.8% effectively no difference. It’s cultural not scientific that’s it.

I’m told that the second and third legs are the best part, tastiest and not stringy.

I’ll go as far down the Food Chain as Rabbit. MAYBE fire-pit roasted Guinea Pig - which is actually a thing in other countries. Maybe.

The assortment of foods at the street vendors in Phnom Penh is like visiting a freak show.

I couldn’t believe some of the stuff they eat. Rats, cats, dogs, monkeys, baby crocodiles, worms, scorpions, snakes, spiders, half hatched duck eggs, tiger penis soup.....

The odd part of it was that things were served intact with head and eyes still looking at you. It was not just frog legs, it was the entire frog on a skewer like a kabob. Same with whole baby octopus on a skewer!

The worst smelling fruit was the durian. It smells like a septic tank crossed with vomit. It smells so bad that they are forbidden entry into many hotels. They are that bad that I would cross the street to avoid the street vender’s stand. (They were popular in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia.)

I took pictures of many of the menu signs in front of the restaurants.

Sounds delicious! The only thing I might add to the recipe would be garlic, paprika and bay leaf. Of course, I tend to get heavy handed with garlic.

That is a good one.... And so true.

Growing up a hillbilly, I had a tough stomach. I could be eating spaghetti on one end of the kitchen table while they were cleaning freshly shot game on the other end of the table.

Fresh roadkill was a frequent meal. Better than biting into and spitting out the lead shot.

I took smoked trout to school for my lunch and it cleared the table when I pulled them out of my bag to eat with the heads still on them.

Was with a friend in a college bar when the college guys were swallowing live goldfish. My friend looks at them and says “That’s not how you do it!” as he popped one in his mouth and chewed up the live goldfish, spitting out the tail.

We were sick dudes...

“Got no problem downing

with a little tobacco.”

That sounds disgusting. Chewing tobacco or pipe tobacco?

I like the idea for Thanksgiving. Everybody gets a drumstick!

I mean free-range tarantulas, of course, not the farmed ones.

The revolting aspect of eating certain foods does vary from culture to culture. For instance, in Vietnam, dog meat is very commonly eaten. In the Western World, we are shocked with the prospect of using "Man's best friend" as food.

Conversely, people in India (Hindus) are sickened by the prospect of Americans eating the beef of their sacred cows.

While many of us have come to appreciate lobster as a delicacy, the lobster itself is quite scary to look at, especially when it is still alive and kicking with those rubber bands wrapped around their claws.

” For instance, in Vietnam, dog meat is very commonly eaten.”

Not commonly. And mostly in the north. I did once (in two years) see a live dog delivery truck in South Korea.
