A 12-year-old Las Vegas girl took her own life after being tormented by bullies at her middle school for months.
Flora Martinez, a sixth grader at Keller Middle School, killed herself on May 7 - eight months and one day after her transfer out of Duane D. Keller middle school was denied. Her funeral was on Thursday.
Her distraught parents are now blaming the Clark County School District for not doing enough to protect their daughter.
Grieving mother, Alice Martinez told News8: 'I feel like the school had a duty to keep her safe, while she was in their care and they just failed miserably.'
The young girl's parents said their daughter's peers started bullying her early into the school year. Flora's mother claimed both she and her child approached the assistant principal for help.
The mom then submitted paperwork for her daughter's transfer out of the middle school, but her request was denied in October.
Flora's mother said she had taken her daughter out of school for two weeks early in the school year when the bullying began, but when she returned to school it intensified.
'Everybody that had a hand in that request to transfer her failed her. If you’re a parent and you’re not outraged by this, you’re part of the problem too,' Martinez said.
Flora's dad Joshua Parker said: 'This wasn’t just one incident that happened, and you know, she decided to take her life.
'This was months and months and months of bullying that built up, and finally, she just couldn’t take it no more.'
The heartbroken father added: 'Look how hard it was on my daughter. My daughter was literally bullied to death.'

The mom has now just won a major lawsuit.
Ping....
Homeschooling really is an option.
Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see any explanation as to why she was being bullied.
The girl is white
The school is mostly minorities
“ At Keller Duane D Middle School , 6% of students scored at or above the proficient level for math, and 22% scored at or above that level for reading.
The school’s minority student enrollment is 93%.”

There ought be no other.
Not when both parents need to work to cover household expenses.
No doubt.
She did absolutely nothing to deserve bullying. She was just a vulnerable person that could not fight back against her tormentors.
That is how it is 99.999% of the time.
Did they say how this 12 yr old comitted suicide? Did she hang herself? Poison or overdose? Tragic and I respect the family’s emotional needs but are child suicides always fully investigated for foul play?
Just an observation, but bullying is back as the current fashion news?

My question is where are the good kids that befriend these kids?
This is tragic.
But I cant help but think it has been going on forever, and we are hearing about this stuff because of the improvements in communications technology.
The only thing the bullied do wrong is that they are good kids and the monsters resent them. That’s the only reason why bullying happens in school today.
If you’re a good kid, you better pick parents who will birth as a big and violent person, otherwise they will bully you to death.
Keller Duane D Middle School’s bullying score must be top shelf.
I don’t mean to be insensitive, but this is a concrete example of a child being bullied to death, perhaps because the parents both insisted on working so that they could avoid a crappy lifestyle of poverty. Looking at the situation now, perhaps they would prefer a crappy lifestyle of poverty — with their daughter.
Yes, that’s nice but, why did they not just take her out of the school? Sometimes you just gotta do that.
It’s pretty much the ONLY option at this point.
Defying the authorities is about the only thing that could have been done here. If I had a job, that I could take my kid to work, I would do that. She could spend the 8 hours just focused on her education and do all the extra-curricular stuff after work.
“Almost every day after picking her up from school, a lot of times she didn’t want to talk,” said Parker. “Or she would tell me, ‘I had a problem with this girl and her group of friends. They’re constantly trying to fight me.’”...”These kids made remarks after she passed away. Afterward, they still were not satisfied,” said Parker.
Alice repeats some of the messages sent on social media about Flora’s death:
“Like I’m even though she’s dead. It makes me the happiest person in the world. She’s resting I can’t wait to see her and how so I can stomp on her head”

Another article said that the bullying seemed to be unprovoked, and that one of the students said that Flora was always nice to everyone.
