prices have more than doubled even at fast food chains.

McDonalds is nearly 20 buck for a few hamburgers, fries, and a drink

the huge hike in min wage in Cali aggravates the problem here. i dare not venture into MCD’s to price a chocolate milkshake which used to be my reward after surviving a bad day. i pop a thin mint instead.

I know it would be bad for the economy but if McDs did a header tomorrow I’d get drunk for joy.

It’s hard to afford Red Lobster when you’re budgeting for your rice and beans.

The reality is that the middle and lower classes have been squeezed financially for years now.

Much of the restaurant business is among the fluffiest of service businesses: Not only would consumers be better off in both health and wealth by simply cooking more at home, but we’d be a stronger country if more investment went into industrial productivity instead.

I’m looking at the costs of eating out and it really adds up.

While I can afford it, I’m cutting back because the. Juice is not worth the squeeze

Red Lobster closing quite a few restaurants according to a tread today. Workers didn’t know until they went in to work.

There's too many crappy chain restaurants. They used to be pretty good. But now their meals are mediocre. The service sucks. And it's kind of expensive.

If we get rid of most of them, it'll be healthy.

people in govt jobs, people in the health care field, teachers, etc are making great money....they are the ones out shopping for these new cars and second homes....

we are on a fixed income....we can go out to eat, but we've cut back a lot...one, we have a ton of food in our freezers, and two, we just can't see throwing so much money for restaurant food.

Mrs. M and I eat out 2x/week when in Mesa, AZ. We choose Chipotle or SmashBurger, as both are affordable and both provide at least 2 meals, perhaps 3, per $10 entree. We take it home, make our own fries, serve our own tortilla chips, get our drinks out of the fridge, etc.

We invariably buy the meals with gift cards (discounted 10%), earned by using certain credit cards, so in essence the meals are bought with kickbacks from big banks. It feels pretty good to eat on their dime. We leave a $3-$5 tip in the tip jar because we can, and it’s the right thing to do.

Mother’s Day Brunch at our local Hilton Hotel was $95 per person. Over $100 with Tax and tip for Bacon and Eggs with cheap champagne.

I’d like to see a map of the closures similar to the map of the most violent cities yesterday.

I’ll guess like the violent crime one yesterday, that most are in the blue states experiencing the mass exodus.

One or two excellent local eateries have closed near us. Darn shame. And we are in business friendly Florida. I cannot imagine trying to make it in a Demon Rat state.

My local area has lost Red Lobster, Popeye's, Denny's, Chili's, Black Bear Diner, Perkins, Garcia's, Chipotle. The Red Lobster site was razed and replaced with an Olive Garden. An old theater was razed and replaced with Red Robin. Jersey Mike's just opened a new location near Idaho State University. Del Taco failed and was replaced with Mod Pizza. My regular options include MacKenzie River, Applebee's and Texas Roadhouse. All have full parking lots most of the week. We also have a few good locally owned restaurants that survive with loyal patronage from the community.
