A California thief used Target’s self-checkout service to snatch over $60,000 worth of merchandise during a shoplifting spree spanning across 100 visits to the retail store.
Aziza Graves, 43, visited the Target at the Stonestown Galleria in San Francisco 120 times between October 3, 2020, and November 16, 2021, according to the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.
During her elaborate scheme, Graves picked items from the shelves before she headed straight to the self-checkout counter, scanned her items, and paid a nominal amount, such as a single coin or bill, before exiting the store.
Graves was arrested in November 2021 after investigators and the San Francisco Police Department followed her inside and around the store twice.

I’ve seen this happen here in Indiana. Even worse, people will fill their cart, ring up the items at the self checkout, then just leave without paying a thing. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve walked by the self checkout and see where that’s happened.
I bet every crook in San Francisco is shakin’ in their boots.

Sounds to me like somebody else like a store employee or two was also in on this.
Wow, this sounds suspiciously like a law and order stance from the prosecutor’s office.
A year ago I can’t imagine this woman being more than being held in detention for more than a few hours.
But, oops, this is an election year and people are tired of stores closing because of this crap.

After leaving the store with the stolen items, the thief would go to the city’s United Nations Plaza, less than a mile from City Hall, where she sold the items to vendors of stolen property.
No kidding? I assumed they were pretty closely monitored. I would think there would be an alarm if not paid pretty quickly. The are a ways from the exit to provide time for security to make a move around here.
Of course she is displease. She dindu nuffins.

I once followed a Hispanic man at a self-checkout at a Home Depot. The man scanned all of his items and then just walked out without completing the transaction and paying for his items.
I had to call over an employee to clear the register so I could proceed.
