Putin Mocked Over Single Tank at Victory Parade
Newsweek ^ | 5/9/2024 | Isabel van Brugen

For the second year in a row, a lone Soviet-era tank rolled across Moscow's Red Square during Russia's Victory Day parade, prompting social media users to mock President Vladimir Putin's military's procession on a day which is traditionally used to display the country's might.

A single T-34 tank participated in the parade in Moscow to mark May 9, or Victory Day, which is the annual commemoration of Nazi Germany's defeat during World War II. Like last year, this year's procession was notably muted in contrast to previous events amid Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine, during which both sides have suffered extensive casualties and have lost vast amounts of military equipment.

"Truly hilarious that the T-14 Armata has been found not only too costly to use in Ukraine, but also doesn't exist in large enough numbers to survive the attrition of the Victory Day Parade in Moscow," said Oliver Alexander, an OSINT analyst, on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"This T-34, the legendary Soviet tank from World War II, was the only Russian tank on display at the Victory Day parade in Red Square today," said Max Seddon, Moscow bureau chief for the Financial Times. "The others must all be busy somewhere!"

"What “victory” is the Russian Federation celebrating?"

If you had any incentive to find out, and weren't so lazy, you could have done a simple search to find out, so here's the historical aspect of what the annual victory parade is all about: The Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in 1945. Despite being a communist republic at the time, the Soviet Union's joining the allies in defeating Hitler was extremely important at that time. And they agreed to enter the war against Japan once Germany was defeated. It would have happened had we not dropped the bombs. Russians have every right to celebrate their victory against fascism, like we have the right to celebrate the 4th of July every year, at least until the fascist RATS cancel it.

I celebrate the people who fought for their motherland against an evil invader, but not their leaders.

One tank? I guess you think this is funny. But maybe ask the Ukies getting their butts blown off by the rest of Putin’s tank forces. That should bring a smile to your lips. LOL.

We did supply them with some Sherman tanks, but Russia had its own steel manufacturing and tank factories in WWII. When Hitler invaded Russia, Stalin had them dismantled and moved them by rail nearer to the Urals. We also sent them train engines and perhaps rail cars. Here's an article about the military machinery that Britain and the U.S. supplied to Russia:

What British and U.S. hardware helped the Red Army in World War II?

Fair enough. I feel the same way too. Russian leaders weren't perfect by any means, and the people of Russia have suffered, but this country has had its fair share of shitful leaders as well that are doing their best to destroy this country. RAT leaders have been systematically leading this country down the road to communism, and we get closer to that every time a RAT is President, and RATS take over Congress. And the majority of Congressional Repukes are happy to help them reach that goal.

36 nations were recipients of Lend-Lease Loans. As far as I can learn, only Great Britain has finished repaying the loan in full with the 2% interest included, in 2006.

I don't know if anybody noticed that Great Britain gave us half of their vast empire during and after WWII.   I was stationed in the Azores for a couple of years.   Lajes Field in the Azores had been Great Britain's North Atlantic fuel depot and deep water port before WWII.

I’m sure the Soviet-Ruzzians appreciate your loyalty.

There you go again.   We have talked about this.   I have no connection with Russia at all.

That is, other than my next door neighbors who told us for thirty years they were Russian Refuseniks until the SMO and all of a sudden Gelina claimed she was Ukrainian.   She was so gushingly proud of Volodymyr Zelenskyy because he is Jewish just like she is.

This whole stupid conflict reminds me of our War Between the States.   We are all the same people but so many citizens will still pick sides and refuse to consider the feelings and experiences of the other side.

The Russians and Ukrainians are all the same people, intermingled and intermarried for a thousand years, but still look for stars on their bellies.

Russia can’t be a threat to Europe when it can’t even beat Ukraine.

Did they actually give it yo us, or did they just allow us to build a base there? We have bases around the world, but we do not own the land. Two African Countries just booted the US out of bases we had there.

Then you think the Russian Federation and the USSR are the same thing? So do I.

Plagiarizing President Reagan? That’s awfully cheeky of you.

Show me where I used the term "Russian Federation" in my own comment. The only place it occurs is in your comment which I quoted when I replied to you. You need a reading comprehension class, and quickly.

No the British were there before us.

Now that you mentioned it again, the Brits had a small detachment of Royal Air Force surveyors looking up at space.   Hush-hush stuff.   Good blokes, but we only swapped a couple of letters after we left the island.
