Emergency slide falls off Boeing plane, forcing LA-bound Delta flight to return to JFK
An emergency slide fell off a Delta plane while it was in the air Friday morning — forcing the Los Angeles-bound flight to return to JFK Airport, sources told The Post.
The freak accident set off an emergency alarm around 8:30 a.m. aboard Flight 520, which had departed the Queens airport an hour earlier, sources said. What do you think? Post a comment.
The crew — who had reported a vibration, according to the FAA — had no choice but to return to JFK, on runway 22L, according to the sources.
Cops were still searching for the missing chute early Friday afternoon and sources said it’s believed it could be in Jamaica Bay.
There were no injuries reported.
The plane is a Boeing 767, which wound up departing JFK for Los Angeles International Airport just before 11 a.m., according to FlightAware.
A Port Authority spokeswoman said there is “an ongoing investigation into what took place.”
The airline did not immediately respond to a request for information.

How many people know that there is ZERO paperwork at Boeing concerning the installation of the window that blew out?
That story went national for one day, and then completely disappeared.
The two deadly 737 crashes also raise alarm bells.
Four Muslim pilots involved.
The same 737 Max flew in Europe, North America, Japan, and the Persian Gulf for 18 months (60,000 flights as I recall).
There was not even one incident report involving the auto-pilot software that allegedly crashed the other two planes.
Something stinks about this, and its more than just Affirmative Action employees in the USA.

Emergency slides are inside of the doors and the door would have to be open for one to “Fall off Boeing Plane.” (DEI writer/reporter, for sure!)
The over wing exits have a slide that is below and inside of the fuselage and not attached to the escape window itself. If not installed properly, it could cause its own “cover,” to open but the slide would still be attached to the airplane.
The FAA report will cover the incident. Wait for that before blaming Boeing or Delta.

It was the right over wing slide...contained behind a external skin panel. Deployed when emergency exit door is opened or can be “manually deployed”...33 year old plane, possible maintenance issue/electrical gremlin or someone “pushed the button”:

How does an emergency slide “fall off” in flight and land anywhere other than the floor of the plane? The emergency slide in mounted to the inside of the door, at least it was on all the aircraft I’ve been in.
Had to be. Door slides are mounted to the inside of the door.
Sounds like piss poor maintenance.
