I can say green cabbage juice greatly speeds up ulcer repair. There were studies done in the 1940s and 50s that used X-rays to show how bad the ulcers were and how good the patients became.

In fact, this miracle substance causing the rapid healing was called “Vitamin U,” for “Ulcer.” It’s now known as “S-methylmethionine sulfonium chloride (MMSC).”

Surely red cabbage has some of this, and, apparently, additional compounds related to other antioxidants, likely from the compounds that make it red.
