The last thing any tourist wants is to buckle up for a boring attraction.
So a new study that reveals 'the 100 most boring attractions across the globe' serves a useful purpose for those keen to guarantee a holiday free from the mundane.
America, it seems, needs to up its game on the excitement front, with attractions in the country occupying the top seven spots, beating Shrek's Adventure London into eighth place. And four Legoland Discovery Centers make the top 25.
The ranking, by Solitaired, was drawn up by an analysis of 66.7million Google reviews of 3,290 popular tourist attractions worldwide, spanning 384 cities across 71 countries. Researchers calculated a boredom score for each site by focusing on 11 keywords indicative of tiresome, lifeless and boring impressions, to determine the least interesting.
Branson Scenic Railway in Missouri takes the undesirable top spot as the world's least interesting attraction, with a boredom score of five out of five. Departing from an old depot in downtown Branson, the heritage railroad travels through part of the Ozark Mountains on a 40-mile round trip.
While some reviewers on Google praised the 'beautiful' foliage and 'magnificent' vistas, others were unimpressed by the views' limited to trees on both sides of the train' during summertime, with 'Sheena Youngers' commenting that they were 'a little bored after a while of just seeing treetops'.

Traveler....just not these places.
“... the island was fun for my son ...”
The article must mean ‘boring for adults’.
In any event, boredom has been described as the root of many evil deeds.
Now you canโt see the forest for the trees!
Funny and appropriate!

I remember dad driving us through forests in Arizona and the Ozarks back in 1957. Boring for as a ten year old kid we could not see the forests for the trees. Finally a break in the trees and we saw the beauty of each.
I’ve been to Shepherd of the Hills which was not bad, and the UFO museum in Roswell. Since I once live at Roswell before the UFO craze I knew it was all just a tourist trap designed to draw in tourists after the Walker AFB closed. I would also add the Bottomless Lakes State Park to this list.
***Dukakis? Can I get a picture of myself riding in a real tank?***
When that was shown on the news channels I almost threw up. He looked like a possum with it’s head stuck out of a hole with that s-— eating grin on his face.
The Stonehenge shown in the old movie THE BLACK KNIGHT with Alan Ladd was more interesting. Now THAT would draw the tourists in!
I toured the Forbidden City about 30 years ago and don't remember anything about it. I would have to pull out some pictures to recall anything about it..
Just a ping to say hi and hope you’re still doing well. And here I am stuck on a Friday writing yet more Ada code.
Life is funny sometimes, isn’t it?
Try driving up to upper Maine from the lower coast.
On the other hand, I remember driving up to the Northern Rim of the Grand Canyon and no trees was just as bad as all trees. I think human beings cry out for visual change.
Maine has many great attractions imho.
Zhuxiang Zan playing “Incense Prayer Hymn” on the Taoist Music Orchestra CD, seems to no longer be available on Amazon but seems to still be there on streaming.
Feng Ru Song playing “Wind Through the Pines” is on the same album.

Waving frantically. All good here and hoping all well there. Strange but good to hear that Ada is still “spoken.” Bill Whitaker would be proud.
Bears being only one of them. My only camping experience was in upper Maine next to a sign warning of them. I never slept that night. Mother, MY PROTECTOR, slept fine.
Ping
Methinks these people don’t get out much beyond their hood.
Thanks so much.
That would be a good piece to play in the background as I read a book or had a lot of writing to finish up.
Back when I had to do quarterly reports as a caregiver, I used “The Scottish” by Felix Mendelssohn, Symphony 3, A Minor , followed by “Fingal’s Cave” for the same purposes.
Those two pieces would last for about one full hour of dark, uneven adventure.
And the Space Needle is fantastic. Great view of what used to be a beautiful city.
Heard bears knocking over trash cans while sleeping in a tent in Baxter State Park.
