Baron Trump turns 35 in March of 2041 and wouldn't be eligible by age to run until 2044. He would win and assume office at the age of 38. One of the other, older of Trump's kids could fill in the gaps between them or some such combination.
Then of course the Trump grandchildren and so on would carry on the family tradition of being president.
only if we ratify it before 1992 so that Reagan can win in 1992.
One and done, please.
Incumbent Presidents seeking to extend into an additional term are the source of too many governmental excesses.
Uhhh, you know Trump will be in his 90’s by 2037.
If he’s still alive.
Look. They have a minimum age requirement. They need a maximum as well.
Barron Trump’s mother was not a US citizen at the time of his birth so our friends in the birther community will tell you that he is not a natural born citizen.
Do you really want a Trump family dynastic rule?
I’d rather see a single term of six years limit.
No...
Just look at the bush league chamber of commerce worshipping republiCAN’Ts for history...
Big daddy bush seized control in 1988, kept it until he passed it down to his son, bushie 2, who now wants to pass it on to his son.
And that’s how we got the mess we have right now.
Just say no to empires.
I want States — the state legislature — to select 2 people for the Senate.
I want the popular vote within each state to elect Representatives for the House.
I want the counties across the entire country to serve as an electoral college to elect a President.
Term limits might be nice, but I think better a system of mechanics to fill the offices is needed more.
While limiting politician’s terms is desirable, I would rather see a time limit on all FedGov employees, direct and indirect employment. The voters are tasked with politician turnover but there is no limit on the un-elected and un-beholding drones that haunt the halls of the FedGov. Apply the employment time limit to some level above the janitors, secretaries, and other non-policy making job descriptions. Anyone above a certain level is gone after a short stint. Thank you for your service now go back to your real job.
Lots of people don’t want Trump to be president at all, for reasons they can’t disclose on this website.
Trump (Clinton, MI): "...my second term, which we are sort of having now..."
What is the meaning of "45-47" anyways?
The problem isn’t the President’s term limits it’s the lack thereof of congressional term limits.
If you really want to do something positive, changing the wording to “no member of congress”.
I would change it to:
"No person shall serve as President more than 2 consecutive terms (plus less than the final 2 years of the preceding president's term due to death, incapacitation or resignation for a total of 10 consecutive years.) AND ....no person shall serve as president more than 4 terms.... AND.... you cannot stay in DC in your privately-purchased house and issue orders to your personally-selected puppet of a president so you are, in fact, running a Shadow Government. This especially pertains to YOU, Barack Obama.
I think my addition adds a lot.
No, this won’t happen or will simply result in another Obama for repeat terms. Current Constitution is just fine.
How about ONE term for ANY elected federal office. These career politicians are the root of most of our problems. How about 10 years of Biden? Remember it goes both ways.
WTH? No. Just no. Bad as the loony left with these proposals. Stack the Supreme Court. Do away with electoral college. Let Trump be President for life. 🥜🌰🔩
>>>>> no person shall serve as president more than 4 terms.
As stated, the potential exists for a president to have to vacate the office midway through his 4th term, if he finished someone else’s term. A better way to phrase it might be to refer to the number of times he can be elected, as the current amendment does. Less ambiguity.
Just no
This entire amendment is dumb and unnecessary
