“Top 10 Southern Rock Songs”
Are all held by the Allman Brothers. Probably the next ten too.
Agreed.
I prefer “Dear John” but that may be 50’s.
“In Memory of Elizabeth Reed” off the Live at the Filmore album
#1 This Ole Cowboy, Marshall Tucker Band The Marshall Tucker Band - This Ol' Cowboy - 11/29/1975 - Sam Houston Coliseum (Official) , Life experience, no more explanation needed. I saw them twice in concert.

#5 Death of an Unpopular Poet, Jimmy Buffett, Jimmy Buffett - Death of An Unpopular Poet - Directed by Delaney, Besides Lynyrd Skynyrd, the only band I have seen 5 times. And my dogs like the song too.
My first concert was in Orlando in about 1978.
The opening act was Molly Hatchet. I was obsessed with “Flirtin’ With Disaster”
Good times :)
And he calls out San Francisco nauseating liberal Neil Young too. Great song. Neil should have learned not to mess with those Southern boys.....
Sweet Home Alabama...”Well, I hope Neil Young will remember a southern man don’t need him around anyhow”.
For that, you should be strapped down and forced to listen to “Muskrat Love” for 48 hours without pause!
Excellent. I must’ve seen them half a dozen times now. I like “Freedom Song”.
Free Bird.
5.56mm
Free Bird sux. There I said it. Had to be done. It is Southern Rock for Yankees.
As far as the best Southern rock, the album “Wipe the Windows, Check the Oil, Dollar Gas” by the Allman Brothers has all of them except for what is on “Waiting For Columbus” by Little Feat.
Best. Song. Ever.
Yes anyone who didn’t vote for Freebird no.1 is an idiot!
I’ll second your Blue Sky-— one of my favorite all-time songs, with some really beautiful/classic ABB guitar playing.
Yep!
‘30 Days in the Hole’ Humble Pie, are you friggin kiddin me???
great song, but not Southern Rock
And the band guys are rail thin as rockers should be.
If you’re looking for funny songs that one is one of the best.
10. ‘Mississippi Queen’ - Mountain
9. ‘30 Days in the Hole’ - Humble Pie
8. ‘Ramblin’ Man’ - The Allman Brothers Band
7. ‘La Grange’ - ZZ Top
6. ‘Flirtin’ With Disaster’ - Molly Hatchet
5. ‘Long Haired Country Boy’ - The Charlie Daniels Band
4. ‘Highway Song’ - Blackfoot
3. ‘Green Grass & High Tides’ - The Outlaws
2. ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ - Lynyrd Skynyrd
1. ‘Can’t You See’ - Marshall Tucker Band
Just watched the Lynyrd Skynyrd vid— holy crap! Straight up rock and roll from an era long since passed. The shots of the audience were pure time-travel back to the ‘70’s.
