No idea about the firearm, but the hybrid SS, Aluminum, brass cartridge violates many metallurgic principles such as dissimilar metal corrosion. I am sure they have corrosion barriers, but in the field, salt spray, moisture, and galvanic action most certainly will limit shelf life. At best I feel the ammo will have to be stored in climate controlled facilities, short life span in the field, and have extreme throat erosion.
Secondly, with top end operating pressures insures barrel life will be very low….good for the manufacturers, but a lousy deal for the unit armorers and supply chain…..a repeat of excessive, expensive barrel changes as witnessed by our latest artillery failures.
Good luck to our troops, they are going to wish it had a bayonet.
How will the democrats Harder to Fire Bureaucrats deliberately screw this up ?
Expensive.
With the military getting rid of strong male warriors, in favor of DEI personel, that won't be able to shoot or carry this rifle, it appears to be an expensive boondoggle.
There are piston ARs; Adams Arms, POF and they come in any caliber.
Adams Arms sells a kit for $200 that can switch any DI AR to piston.
This decrepit DEI gov’t disparity policy DEMANDS that the 13% black population be represented by at least 13% in admissions, graduation, and hiring in EVERY field regardless of testing results, ability, or knowledge. This DEI policy is literally killing us.
Then discern this: the decrepit DEI gov’t disparity policy DEMANDS that the 13% black population be represented by at least 13% in admissions, graduation, and hiring in EVERY field regardless of testing results, ability, or knowledge. This DEI policy is literally killing us.
So much for picking up loaded 5.56 mags off the battlefield.

Question: Was the 30-.06 overdoing it in the M-1 Garand?
Because it's not 'Woke' and some folks are 'triggered'.
Boy, I guess so. A a lot of “woke” around here even on FR apparently.
Yes. Some Blacks fought well for the Confederates.
The M-1 Garand action is quite able to take pressures greater than the SAMMI max of 62,500 psi. Safe pressures are considered around 50,000 psi, but this is really playing it safe. With increased chamber pressure, expect cycling to increase in speed. My reloading manuals list the same thing. As with the 7.62x51mm Nato round in the M14. I’d still rather have about 55,000 psi chamber pressure next to my face than 80,000. Troopers better be wearing an EOD bomb suit when they fire that rifle. Gonna be kind of difficult to maneuver on the battle field in a bomb suit.
There’s a lot to be said for economy of production and maintence in a battle rifle. See AK-47.
At Parris Island in July 1951, as someone who had owned a rifle and shotgun since the ages of 8 & 10, I was issued an M1 Garand and fell in love...
A love that has lasted even till this day...
I didn’t and wouldn’t make that assertion! 30 06 was perfect for Garand!
Call me old school but I think M 14 should still be main battle rifle with M 16 playing a secondary role like Thompson/M 1 carbine in WW2. Maybe some HK MP5’s and shotguns for “house cleaning”, etc. thrown in for good measure.
LOVE the ‘14.
What the Garand became…
The M14 and Garand are too heavy.
IMHO: Suppressing fire was more effective with the M1 Garand, when the enemy was 200 plus yards away. Because of the round.
The barrel, wrapped with rags (so you could hold on while sweating) and with bayonet attached, was a handy tool.
