Map suggesting how the U.S. could be split into four different regions sparks UPROAR online - as critics rail against the placement of ONE specific state

A major point of contention among Redditors was including the state of Missouri in the South.

'I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I recognize Missourah!' a man declared, whose comments history suggests he lives in Alabama - and who further poked fun at how some in the southern part of Missouri pronounce the state's name.

'I feel like Missouri was only given to the south here to generate interaction and comments. Missouri is definitely Midwest, and classified by the government as Midwest,' a second argued.

What do YOU think is the correct area for Missouri?

South Midwest 'Geographically it is midwestern, culturally it is more southern. Also giving Missouri to the south is Kansan approved,' a third contended.

Missouri has a midwestern feel, however it does have it's share of jaw harps, banjos and jugs.

This is way too simplistic. No way Idaho goes along with California, Oregon and Washington.

Interesting approach, but clearly not founded on any real understanding of the makeup of various social regions of the country.
Seems to me a better approach would be to split larger States into multiple smaller States...California could become three, New York could become two, Ohio could become two, Texas could become three, Washington could become two, and Oregon could become two. There are others, I’m sure.

My ancestors fought across “ Bloody Kansas” a few years before the recent unpleasantness in 1860. (We’re not sure which side though. Probably for the crooks.)

Keep Missouri in the South. But exclude St. Louis and its ghettos.

Same goes for Texas. We need to become a Republic again. But leave Austin out of it.

Even without school shootings, Hollywood train wrecks, or palace intrigue, Daily Mail will always have material in the form of arguments on the internet.

I agree, my wife has her feet cemented into the ground here in New Jersey but if the SHTF this chart makes it look like I an easily escape by going to Maryland. Uh uh, not far enough from the communist consensus that would have caused the SHTF event in the first place and would likely rapidly turn into brutal dictatorships which suddenly discover the value of locked down border - to keep us all from escaping.

I’m planting seeds for a nice southern state. South Carolina, Florida, perhaps Tennessee. So far it’s not yielding fruit.

I've always heard Missourah was the correct pronunciation and everyone always mispronounces it.

Made me think of Jose Wales. Grin. There is quite a history regarding the Jayhawkers and Missouri.

See the movie “Long Riders” for proof of that. The Younger’s and James’ clans home.

That's easy. The West and the South unite. The sane parts of California, Washington, and Oregon are welcomed with open arms! The insane enclaves become protectorates. Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, and maybe a few other places in the Midwest can be similarly welcomed.

Missouri is the population center of the U.S.

Just call it that and keep it separate from the the other regions.

Notice that the Eastern Shore of Maryland is included with the South in the map? Maybe that’s as it should be.

My great-great grandfather disappeared in “Bloody Kansas” in 1857, never to be seen again, when he traveled there from Virginia to claim land left to his father for fighting in the War of 1812.
