Gene Hackman, 94, and his wife Betsy Arakawa, 62, were seen out and about in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Thursday for the first time in two decades.

The reclusive actor, who has not starred in a film for the past 20 years, was spotted holding onto his wife's arm for balance as the pair grabbed a bite at Pappadeaux's Seafood Kitchen.

The legendary two-time Oscar winner and his long-time partner seemed to be in a good mood as they left the restaurant together.

Unforgiven, Crimson Tide, and Enemy of the State were good too.

Let him enjoy his sunset.

Sunset can happen to anyone at anytime, age is mostly irrelevant when it comes to dying. He chose to be a recluse and I certainly don't blame him.

The way things are going he's one of the lucky ones to be the age he is. Often those who've been around, seen it, been there done that often become recluses. He doesn't have to prove himself to anyone or chase the cameras, like the phony posers in Hollywood do. Many who've made it big with fame, money, etc, avoid the public like the plague. He no longer has to play the BS game. He's very fortunate to be able to live his OWN life. Lucky him!

Bet he loves it. It sure beats having to wear disguise’s every time you want to go into public to avoid the obnoxious intrusive public while being constantly hounded, chased, and gawked at...

She’s in pretty good shape for a woman her age.

Are there any broke or bankrupt actors in their 90’s with wives 30 or more years younger. Asking for a skeptical friend.

I’d love to ask both of the actors how they met their (now) wives.

Old age is not cruel to everybody. Some age well and remain mentally and physically active into their sunset years. Clint Eastwood is still making movies. Warren Buffet is still investing, eating ice cream and playing cards with bill gates. David Attenborough still making documentaries at 97. Fauci, whatever you think of him, still goes for a run everyday in his eighties. A lot depends on how you treated your body over the years.

The first time I saw Robert Duvall was in 1961 in an episode of "Route 66."

Can we not leave these people alone? They deserve some peace and quiet.

Secondhand lions.
Duvall and Michael Cain.
Funny, thought provoking and entertaining
Excellent!
After watching it, ask yourself who is the secondhand lion. Or are there more than one? The title suggests more than one, but one is plainly obvious.
I propose that there are five.

...but there are no bad movies with Duvall, that I’m aware of.

Ha!

From the pics on the DM site, he dresses just like I do :-)

Gotta admire folks in any profession who know when to hang it up and relax.

Dick Van Dyke still looks like van Dyke, Duvall still looks like Duvall. I could not recognize Gene Hackman in those photos. He has lost a lot of weight in all the wrong ways. Seriously, that is a bad case of protein calorie malnutrition.

Really loved the French Connection. Gene Hackman won the Oscar for Best Actor.

At the Academy Awards the emcee announced on stage that Hackman had volunteered to drive anyone home who didn’t have a ride.
