Unforgiven, Crimson Tide, and Enemy of the State were good too.
Clint Eastwood tells the story of getting Hackman for Unforgiven. Hackman had said he wasn’t ever going to do another western because they were too violent. And then he read the script.
Eastwood didn’t explain it, but I took it to mean that Unforgiven really was an anti-violence movie, in an odd sort of way.
