New York’s most notorious squatting story is taking a new twist: The “squatter” at the center of it says he’s the victim — and will get out once he is paid for “upgrades” to the house.
Range Rover-driving Brian Rodriguez told The Post he wants $18,000 to hand back the home in Flushing — and claimed all he was doing was trying to start a “side hustle” to cash in on the migrant crisis.
The bizarre saga began when Adele Andaloro was handcuffed by police after a fiery caught-on-camera standoff as she tried to throw out squatters from the $1 million, four-bedroom home in Flushing she inherited from her parents.
But then the squatters said they were legitimately subletting and paying rent to someone called “Jay” — Rodriguez’s nickname — and therefore were entitled to stay.

I’m just saying that it’s plausible that this guy was actually scammed as well to provide a cut-out for the “realtor”. It’s worth the cops following up on the lead.

anything is possible, but I wish someone would show up at Nancy Pelosi house when she is in Washington with a signed lease and then move it and demand to stay until a court can decide months later.
I get that but how did the scammer landlord get the key? Did he break in and change the locks?

It could also be that Rodriguez made up “Ronnie Ferg” just in case his ruse was discovered. Nobody by that name exists, and he is suddenly no where to be found. How coincidental.

My Polish immigrant grandfather — about five foot tall — used to keep order in his bar and grill with a baseball bat and would make rent collections by himself with a large Colt revolver strapped on his hip. Although genuinely kind and generous, he did not permit misconduct and would not be cheated or trifled with.
That the fault of some of banks. They’ll pay “cash for keys” to residents of foreclosed properties. The scammer scum picked up on it.
