Private property isn't so private anymore. When normal Americans weren't looking, squatters became cult heroes. The left has been cultivating squatters' rights for years. Woke cities are giving them legal backup by consolidating COVID-19-era no-eviction rules into free housing for months or years. People seeking their piece of the American Dream are now the stars of the left's dystopian horror show.
The property takeovers are all over the country in the nation's woke cities. The stories are legion.
"The homeowner wouldn't talk with us on camera for fear of retaliation from those living on the property. When he asked them to leave they beat him up sending him to the hospital," a Portland, Ore., TV reporter explained in 2022 after squatters took over a man's home while he was away. "He hasn't been back since but still pays $1,500 a month for the mortgage."

Reportedly, Florida passed laws to rein in squatters not very long ago. I’d be very very curious as to how those laws were approached and whether they have worked practically.

Yes it is, but it is systematic in the sense that not enforcing existent laws gives them their bargaining chip of being able to demand more laws, they may not enforce, in exchange for your safety.

Oklahoma honors the doctrine of “self help.” In RURAL Oklahoma counties it is especially well honored by law enforcement. It might very well involve some pain on the perpetrators of trespass, squatting, or other property crimes.

Sadly, that is the truth. They’re there to protect the criminals.
Not that it will happen, but the Republicans should pin the squatting movement on the Democrats, as they are CLEARLY behind this crap.
As with most Democrat crap, is there any other (supposedly civilized) country where a major politic party DEFENDS SQUATTERS.

Maybe. But remember, the US courts apply one set of laws to them and an entirely different set of laws to us.

The law, passed unanimously by the legislature, doesn’t go into effect until July 1. Not sure why the delay.
The law will work unless overturned by a federal judge somewhere. Squatter eviction will take one day; by the Sheriff.
The measure includes protection for genuine renters; landlords abusing tenant rights by claiming they are squatters can be held accountable by the courts - as they should.
If the other 49 states have any sense, they will adopt similar laws.
