Happy St.Patrick's Day good freepers. It's come to my attention that most of us are too decrepit or responsible now to go out bar-hopping on a whim, so I decided to share my list of Celtic Rock songs for your enjoyment or castigation. These are all positive because I can't handle morose "Danny Boy" and such. If you have more please post them!
"Whiskey in the Jar" - Thin Lizzy (1973)
I'm Shipping up to Boston - Dropkick Murphys (Live)
Drunken Lullabies - Flogging Molly
Drink the Night Away - Gaelic Storm
Horslips - Bim Istigh Ag Ol (Live at the National Stadium, 1973)
The Rumjacks - An Irish Pub Song
Didn't mean to abuse the forum but I had too much fun finding these and had to share.
Very timely
Thanks

The Men Behind the Wire--The Wolfe Tones (1971)
Thanks

Umm; for the short run let's not. But I'm a huge fan of the two "Boondock Saints" movies and I hear a third one may be coming. Comments on that page were just too sympathetic to the Palestinian corpse-rapers and baby killers for my stomach and I see little correlation to "the troubles" of Ireland.
This is a celebration of Irish good on their one day of the year. Blacks and homos get a whole month, women as a group get one day and white guys...are disrespected and get the message they're no longer welcome nor appreciated in the country they 90% built. I think Ice-T (a black guy) sums up my general attitude best with his update of Suicidal Tendencies "Institutionalized". Profane but totally on point.
Make Ireland Irish today!
But thank you for your other contributions. SO much of early rock/pop is unknown because nothing but specialized media outlets play it. I must have watched hundreds of Lawrence Welk Shows but find all that sort of music gone in modern culture. Frank Sinatra and that era are rapidly following.
U2 - Sunday Bloody Sunday (live from Red Rocks)

What a great song. Shel Silverstein wrote it, as I recall.
Last night my band played it at a party at the local American Legion. Got everybody in the place singing along. Wonderful!
Don’t forget one of my favorites: “Drink and Fight” - Mudmen
