An autistic boy was shot dead by police in California after he ran towards them with a bladed gardening tool, according to officials.
Harrowing bodycam footage shows the moment Ryan Gainer, 15, runs out of his Apple Valley in San Bernardino county on Saturday and towards the deputies.
A deputy is heard saying, 'Hey get back! Get back or you're gonna get shot,' before opening fire.
Police showed up at his home after receiving a 911 call reporting the teen was assaulting family members and damaging property, as reported by KTLA.
According to an official report, Gainer charged at the officers with the five-foot-long gardening tool as soon as they arrived.
A deputy said he tried to get away but opened fire after the teen chased after him.
'Without provocation, Gainer raised the bladed end of the tool and ran toward the deputy,' the release stated.
'The deputy retreated, and Gainer chased the deputy in an attempt to assault him with the bladed end of the tool.'
Officers provided medical aid until paramedics arrived, but the teen was later declared dead at the hospital.
No deputies were injured in the incident, which is under investigation by the police department's specialized investigations division.
During the 911 call, Gainer's sister reported that he was attacking one of their siblings and trying to break a window and door.

You make laugh. As if the police would do anything about that. These days, I’d likely be the one who gets arrested for some reason.
I agree with the other poster. Do everything possible not to call the mercenary enforcers of the deep state regime.
Would you consider autism as a psychological problem?
Just because a person is autistic doesn’t mean he couldn’t also have psychological problems.People of all ages, race, gender can be afflicted with personality disorders. Some days they can be fine and other days they can be a terror.Chasing after family members and then a cop with a sharp garden tool I think would qualify as a mental disorder.
All of these “fear of life” certitude arguments fly in the face of reality. The Mythbusters tested the “Bring a knife to a gun fight myth” and found that 90% (If I recall correctly) of the time, a trained guy with the knife WON the gun against knife fight when it started 21 feet or less away. So the distances of most in-house, or person-to-person encounters, the guy with a knife has a nine to one edge if they are at all aggressive.
Cop should have had the mag empty and changing mags at this point.
Fixed it for you. Good riddance to Saint Sling Blade.
One of those to the carotid or the heart would be all she wrote.
Yeah, I think I would’ve pew-pewed too.
We had a similar shooting here just a few days ago. Mentally ill Man armed with a knife.
I wonder if the “garden tool” was a bladed instrument like a scythe.
A few years ago we passed a mentally ill man who had just been shot by a cop. Unarmed. Mistaken identity. The cop was overzealous to make a killing and is now in prison.
A friend of mine was shot a couple of years ago same way. We all blamed the cop till we talked with my friend’s wife. Now we believe it was suicide by cop.
I wonder if the 21 foot rule is still in effect.
Scythes were often used in ancient wars as a combat weapon.

As long as we are resorting to name calling, I will call you a pervert.
Hah.
I didn’t notice the autism —> Austin auto correct.
