The customer’s Reddit post asks for advice on how to handle a delivery driver that allegedly let their beliefs prevent them from doing their job
One Uber Eats delivery driver seems to have their personal beliefs interfere with the successful delivery of an order — and now the customer is asking for help in an effort to figure out what went wrong. The problem? The customer ordered Plan B, and their driver refused to deliver it.
The customer posted their ordeal on the r/UberEats subreddit. They say they needed a Plan B bill “on the fly.” It isn’t clear exactly what that means, but it’s also not anyone’s business. Because the buyer was busy, they didn’t have a chance to grab the pill themselves, so they put in an order on Uber Eats for it to be delivered from a local CVS.
The problems started almost as soon as a local delivery person accepted the order, as the customer described in the post:
This guy accepts the order, and he’s on a bike, so it took him about 40 mins just to get to the CVS. Then he sits outside the CVS for an additional 30 minutes, before sending me this message.
They provided a screenshot of the message that the delivery person sent them, and it’s wild. Instead of doing what they had been paid and tipped to do, the person explained why they can’t deliver them Plan B: “...I can not deliver this knowing what it will do.”
What? This person seems to be saying that they think that Plan B is some kind of abortion bill instead of the emergency preventive contraception it really is. Worse yet, the delivery person never even canceled the order —presumably on purpose — so the customer couldn’t connect to another driver to get the order delivered. Sadly, the customer says they’re embarrassed and “a little upset,” and they’re now asking for advice about what they should do.
Some people in the comments told them there’s nothing they should be embarrassed about because, as one person commented, this whole exchange was creepy and uninformed. Another person said that they should file a safety incident with Uber, saying that they were “little creeped out & embarrassed by his unsolicited medical advice and religious chastisement.” This is one I agree with.
In addition to possibly getting this driver booted, no one should be letting their religious beliefs get in the way in a situation like this, especially considering it’s stranger that you’ll likely never see or encounter in life again — one whose life situation you don’t even know.
It should be noted here that Uber Eats policies allow delivery persons “the right to decline any delivery opportunity offered to them.” However, this situation is a bit different; not only did the delivery person refuse the delivery, but they also seemed to block the customer from getting another delivery person by not canceling the order. We reached out to Uber for a comment on the situation and will update when they get back to us.

I drive for Doordash, been doing it for over 3 years. We do deliveries all the time where WE have to actually shop for the items we’re going to deliver. It’s not just ‘pick up a sealed package and go’.
I am a Christian, and no less than 3 times, I have had to deliver Plan B. All 3 times, I have had to shop for the item. I delivered them without incident.
As I see it, I am just doing a job. It’s not my job to judge what someone has done with their life.
He was also one of the best jazz writers.
I’m a pharmacy tech, and yes, that’s how it goes - except with deliveries.
Where I work, deliveries are bagged into opaque plastic bags, labeled with a name, address, and order number, and a delivery service arrives (rarely do Uber and other similar services pick up from us, but it’s the same). They show their pickup list, make sure all orders are present, and don’t know what’s in those bags unless their app tells them - which it shouldn’t. That’s a HIPAA violation.

Takes two people for a pregnancy. There is an argument that men are unaware of an abortion.
The percentage of married men whose wives have abortions without the father’s/husband’s consent is not a high number. And they’re not whom I refer to here.
Abortion serves overgrown boys more than anyone else.
“The buyer ... they”
“The delivery person” ... they”
When a writer is ignorant about grammar, doesn’t he know it? Why would he embarrass himself?
Our local Walgreens uses Door Dash to deliver prescriptions. The bag is always taped shut. The delivery driver doesn’t know what is in it. I have to show my driver’s license to get the package.
Our local restaurants also tape all bags of food shut.

The driver saying that they cannot deliver the abortifacient, knowing what it would do, is not “unsolicited medical advice and religious chastisement”. The writer is a idiot.
“My major question is: How did he know it was Plan B? I assume any delivery service would just pick up the package and delivery? The driver will know if you get Eliquis, Viagra, Valtrex, whatever? I wouldn’t think it would be this way?”
Plan B (as opposed to all the other products you mentioned) is available on store shelves, you do not need a prescription to purchase it. So the driver would simply walk into the store, buy the item, and take it to the customer. It wouldn’t be in a bag until the driver bought it.
It’s not always like a McDonalds order with the meal already packed and ready.. Anything can be purchased and delivered, and depending on what is requested the driver sometimes goes in and buys it for the customer.
I always agree to deliver large orders of fries but they always seem to disappear before I arrive at my destination. Strange.
It’s over the counter. See post 29.

One wonders, with this kind of logic, that is actually quite common, why the men aren’t lining up as the primary pro life sponsors, why they aren’t at the abortion clinics offering to take care of the babies and or marry the mothers. Why they aren’t waiting til marriage.
“Plan B is some kind of abortion bill instead of the emergency preventive contraception it really is.”
I don’t even know if that is true.
As a guy, I have to struggle to relate. Would I call a delivery service to make an emergency delivery of condoms? No. The world does not revolve around me.
If this girl/woman thinks she has a personal “emergency,” she should make the necessary trip herself. I quoted emergency as there is a number one can dial for a true emergency, 911. This does not qualify.
“What kind of irresponsible person uses Uber Eats to get any sort of medicine from a drug store. An entitled fool.”
???? I certainly would if I was too ill to go out.
Quick, call Door Dash before we run out of ammo.
This sounds bogus to me.
I thought Uber Eats only did food. Guess I learned something.
I noticed a trend on the internet in last few years as is shown in the text in post #5 of putting the dollar sign after the amount like this: 17$ instead of the correct $17. How did this start?
“My major question is: How did he know it was Plan B?”
Most of the ‘scenarios’ like this never happened, which is why they often have gaping holes. But they are interesting what if’s?
