In a triumphant display of grit and determination, 18-year-old Audrey Jimenez hit the mat over the weekend and made history by becoming the first girl to win the Arizona state wrestling title while competing against boys.
The Tucson teen earned a Division 1 title, but it took more than just hard work and athleticism to get there. She first had to win matches over boys this season before being crowned champion.
"The crowd was just super crazy," Jimenez told Scripps News Phoenix. "So that's what made it seem more of like 'Oh wow, like I just won state."
While the high school senior said she regularly faced boys during the regular season, when the state tournament rolled around, she had been required to compete against girls for the past three years — taking home the title each time. But this year, coaches asked the Arizona Interscholastic Association to reconsider its stance and allow Jimenez to compete in the boys division.
Her dad Billy and mom Denise said their daughter has always been the hardest-working person in the room. So when the AIA gave Jimenez the green light to change divisions, her victory seemed like destiny.
It's an athletic achievement helping to pave the way for girls behind her to dream fearlessly. And Jimenez is hoping her story can inspire others to always chase their dreams.
"Once you see it done you know it's possible," she added.

1. Boy will not wrestle girls the same as they would another boy, they avoid her breast area. It limits them.
2. It is stimulating for a boy to wrestle a girl. The boy is normally just out of puberty with raging hormones and now has this girl rubbing up against him. His body reacts with rigidness. That is publicly embarrassing for the boy as the biological reaction can be very noticeable in spandex.
There are videos on youtube showing these 2 points. On at least on of them it appeared the girl used this to her advantage by actively grabbing his appendage, and the boys were intimidated.
Having been a wrestler I can attest to all you posted. Boys never would go all out on a girl.
I find it very unlikely that she wrestled those boys where they were actually wrestling like she was another boy.
This should not be allowed in competition. I’m fine with girls competing on a practice level, so they can be the best they can be. However, there should be no prize for doing it in competition.
If she is 18, that means she’s a woman now.
No more play acting for applause and attention. You are both age and sex inappropriate! Stay in your lane. There is nothing ‘brave’ about it.
Let’s take a timeout from this madness. When God created man and woman . . .I don’t think this is what He had in mind.
No way she beat any guy.
I’ll betcha’ $1000 she couldn’t beat me in an arm wrestle.
Jus’ sayin’.
If a biological female can beat biological males, then there's no reason to prevent biological males from competing against biological females.

If a boy is wrestling, a girl, and seriously injures her, could he be arrested for assault after the match?
I guess not since the high school basketball player injured several girls and nothing was done.
I don’t think the average high school boy is going to get as much leeway in the eyes of the law as someone who’s transgender. But maybe I’m wrong.
I would not hold back wrestling a fake transgender woman like Rachel Levine, but a real woman, like most men, both my conscious and subconscious instincts would prevent me from doing so. I would have the strength advantage, but she would have the guilt advantage.
Regards,
I remember when my Marine brother told me years and years and years ago why women should never serve in combat. He said it was a man’s instinct to protect the female and it would be harmful to everyone involved.
Not letting her win would have been toxic masculinity.
