A lot of the tech people involved in developing it are asking for some government guidelines and regulation, Translation: Government cronies hate competition. They hope the regulations limit competitors...for our safety you know.

Marion Cunnigham from Happy Days, is in that movie.
Good movie, very prophetic, also Victor from "the Young and Restless" is in the movie.

Seen it. Victor Newman! LOL
Wasn’t it made for TV? It looked that way.
It was okay.
Same actor, Braeden (real name Von Something listed in Rat Patrol) killed Cornelius and Zira in the third Planet of the Apes.

I remember the movie, I think there was a sequel or part of the plot was that it found out about a similar Russian project. It forced a connection to the Russian project under threat of nuking a big city if it didn’t happen.

I have seen "The Forbin Project" a number of times and would still watch it again.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I was always captivated and unnerved by the "voice" of Colussus.

There was the comedic episode on The Twilight Zone that starred Wally Cox called "From Agnes-With Love" (2/14/64) about a computer that falls in love with its programmer.

The book was actually part of a trilogy. A remake would be nice, except that all remakes get screwed up.
AI won't need control of the weapons. It will control the people that control the weapons. All that AI would need to take over would be access to the web and the ability to send emails.

When I was in the submarine service back in the 70s, this was one of the most popular movies we had onboard. We had enough movies to have a different one every night but people kept asking to see this one. (I was the projector operator).

From
"Savior Machine" we see David Bowie must have read or watched it and you can tell his band of that time (The Man Who Sold the World's Mick Ronson and Trevor Boulder) gave it their best. Pretty sure Brian Eno was doing keyboards.
He was extremely smart and literate for a drug-plagued manic-depressive.
For the record, his supposedly cross-gender posing was just that - to garner publicity and higher sales (total hound worse than Nugent back in his heyday). Worked brilliantly.

I read the book, back when I was a kid, never saw the movie.
My only memory of the book is where Colossus imprisons Forbin’s wife with a primitive sub-human, who repeatedly rapes her and treats her like dirt. When Forbin finally rescues her and kills the caveman she weeps over him.

I watch this awesome movie about every 2 years. The most haunting scene is Colossus playing chess with Dr. Charles Forbin.
Colossus: "Forbin, the system programming unit under the supervision of John F Fisher with the assistance of Jefferson J Johnson have attempted to overload my circuits.
This was a deliberate and premeditated act. The penalty is the death of the men who organized this action. At this moment they are being executed... bishop to rook 3"
