Country singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor Toby Keith passed away on Monday night at his home in Oklahoma, after a prolonged battle with stomach cancer since the fall of 2021. He was 62 years old at the time of his demise.
Trigger warning: This article has references to lynching and racism. Readers' discretion is advised.
The official statement from his family read:
"Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on February 5th surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time."
In the wake of his death, Toby Keith's famous song Beer for My Horses has come under controversy for the racist undertone in its lyrics and mention of lynching.
An X user with the handle @RFCapsMoustache critically commented on the same. Here's what they said:
Digital content maker and photographer Destinee Stark criticized the song Try That In A Small Town by country artist Jason Aldean on her TikTok last year for its racist, pro-gun violence, and pro-lynching lyrics.
At the same time, Stark criticized Toby Keith's Beer for My Horses, saying it was hard to believe the song had ever been approved for radio play.

Doesn’t he sing it with Willie Nelson?
FWIW In the official video, the culprit is pretty white.

And he’ll never smoke weed with Willie again.
RIP
Yep. Willie’s in the official video as well as Keith’s Dad. Worth watching. There’s a link in my previous post.
“Toby Keith’s famous song Beer for My Horses has come under controversy
No, it hasn’t.
A few whiny little bitches are whining and bitching.
That is all.”
Very succinct and correct summary.
I consider that an excellent country western song. Lyrics, arrangement, singers, etc. Never once thought it was racist, it is about handling criminals.
You have to assume that out west, it was the whites who were being hanged.
Call me clueless, but I never thought Willie Nelson could sing that good.
What’s “racist” about that? Does she think only Black people ever got lynched or got “frontier justice”?
Put a few more violent gangsters in the ground?
Sounds good to me. Say, who are those gangsters murdering overwhelmingly? Isn’t it “racist” to not want the murderers of Black people brought to justice or put in the ground to prevent them from murdering more innocent Black people?
When Keith’s Grandpappy was around he probably remembers stories of what Texas was like when it was on the frontier. Newsflash! It was violent. Very violent. Ever heard of the Commanche? That’s to say nothing of Mexican Banditos, outlaws, etc etc. I’m sure lots of bad guys got some old fashioned “frontier Justice” from the Texas Rangers and from the locals.
This is just the usual Leftist race hustlers seeing racism in all things, always on all days, etc
I’ll bet you have not heard the last from her. She may be one of the finalists in the “Golden Corral Devastators” competition!
Theory: trash Keith, who started Taylor Swift’s career, as a kernal for a “narrative”.
Toby Keith wrote a song appropriate to her. Its called Runnin' Block.

I as a lawyer absolutely love the song, and it wasn’t talking about the south, it was talking about Texas and the wild west, hanging cattle rustlers and train robbers and stage coach robbers. Destiny is delusional.
Yeah, but rap lyrics are a-okay.
Ouch. I’ll never be able to unsee that, uh, obese woman.
Ww po baby goin ew ew ew?
g.f.y.a.t.h.y.r.i.o.!
Man isn’t even cold yet, the libtard snowflakes are already clutching their pearls about some lyrics. Truly pathetic.
I could see that going well at a Trump rally.....................
I’m sure that she don’t want no maintenance man.
The maintenance man is better off without her.
Great video!
Love that song too.
I bet Destiny would have been really ticked about Hank Jr.s’ If the South Woulda Won. LOL.
Many whites have been lynched in the past.
Haters gonna hate.
