DEAR ABBY: My son and daughter-in-law are in their early 30s. They have a 5-year-old child who hasn’t seen a doctor since infancy. They opted not to vaccinate. Although my husband and I do not agree with it, we keep our mouths shut.
Our precious granddaughter has been sick with a severe cough and fever on and off for close to two months. Although they have health insurance, they refuse to take her to a doctor. They treat her with over-the-counter meds and holistic remedies.
I finally told my daughter-in-law I felt it was negligence to not take the child to a pediatrician. The other grandmother feels the same way I do. Now I’m being “canceled” for finally expressing how I feel. I am disconsolate with the thought that they would actually do that to me. I did apologize for my choice of words and the way I said them.
What else can I do to make things right again? My son is no help. He doesn’t go against his wife for any reason. -- HEARTBROKEN NANA IN FLORIDA
DEAR NANA: If I read your letter correctly, you stated that your grandchild has had no vaccinations. Nothing to prevent whooping cough, diphtheria, measles, chickenpox or polio. To me, that describes GROSS negligence. Because your henpecked son refuses to step in, you may have to accept there is nothing you or the other grandmother can do to “make things right again.” But the two of you COULD contact child protective services and ask if they agree that what’s happening is negligence.
Most likely viral which must run its couse....
Correct, they do NOT need vaccines. It’s the wicked cabal of government and pharma (ie sorcery) inflicting this toxic stew on society for their own monetary gain and control.
WAKE UP PEOPLE
Childhood vaccines now number 90. 90! Let that sink in. Have all interactions been tested?
Every child need some vaccinations, but the pro-vax crowd would have you taking a dozen vaccines every day of your life.

I have not kept up with vaccine development, but if the vaccines today are mRNA engineered without long term trials (5 year minimum)safety and efficacy proven results, I would opt out. How can anyone make an informed decision without seeing verifiable results of long term trials. If anyone needs proof of the importance to long term trials, just look to the havoc EUAs - emergency use authorizations - did in the Covid fiasco.
I agree with you that we take too many. At most, there are probably 5 or 6 diseases that we are better off vaccinating for than not. But that vaccination schedule is over a period of 3 or 4 years.
However, the vaccination crowd looks at vaccinations like it’s their only tool.
The problem here, if this story is true, is not really the anti-vax position, but a failure to take the kid to the doctor. The problem is likely to be some sort of bacterial infection, like bronchitis or pneumonia. Or some other cause for recurrent fever syndrome. Been there, done that.
The diseases standard vaccinations prevent are quite rare in the US, because of herd immunity.
The massive antivax campaign against Covid vaccines has strengthened the position of antivaxxers when they advocate against other vaccines.
Antivaxxers have always been a public health threat. They used the pandemic to increase their scope. More parents are trying to avoid vaccinating their children than ever, and preventable outbreaks are happening as a result.
You find it difficult to read into statements, don't you.
I remember when my son was going to kindergarten I had coughs and fevers on and off for six months or so. Just when I was getting better he would come home with another cold or sniffle, and I got the next round of crud being incubated by the 5 year old germ factory.
And you disovoer when you tank your son to his doctor at an HMO for colds and flue they get kind of shirty with you, like this is what happend when you have kids. They grow out of it. But other than tell you to give fluids, tylenol and bedrest there isn't much they can do unless you whine about anti-biotics so you can help generate the next round of antibiotic resistant bactrial infections.
I read it that you thought people should have more trust in the government which is how you seemingly wrote it. sorry for the misunderstanding
Dear Abby,
Please mind your own business and get your booster.\
Sick of Tyrants
Worried about kid, and then calls the kid an “It.”
I advocate being anti-stupid
I am pro-vaccines that do not have gigantic upticks in deadly side effects and that actually prevent the disease from spreading throughout whole populations.
I am against ineffective so-called "vaccines" that have very short lived protection at best. Have a gigantic uptick in deadly side effects and which despite very wide usage utterly failed to prevent the disease from spreading to everyone.
You seem to be taking the pro-stupid position by equivocating between the two.
Kill the anti-vaxer!
Right?
“DEAR ABBY:” ?
After Covid, Abby is a Karen.
I don’t think it’s possible to make an accurate diagnosis of a possibly fictional child’s illness based on a secondhand description of “a severe cough and fever on and off for close to two months.”
This is a very interesting documentation of the success of that vaccine, may surprise you when you consider some real facts.
