Taylor Swift has drawn criticism over a cease-and-desist letter her lawyers sent a college student who uses publicly available flight data to track her private jet usage.
As Breitbart News reported, the target of the threatened law suit runs social media accounts that follow her and other celebrities’ private jets to measure their carbon pollution levels — with Swift calling the issue a matter of “life or death.”
Jack Sweeney, 21, received the missive in December which declared the 14-time Grammy award winner would “have no choice but to all legal remedies” if the accused did not stop his “stalking and harassing behavior.”

The kid is doing nothing illegal. He’s taking publicly available flight information and consolidating it. Something you or I could do, but he makes it a click easier. And he’s done this with other celebrities and never been sued. Why? It’s not illegal. You can put a creepy stalker spin on it if you are so inclined, but it’s not illegal.
I think her goal is to swamp him with legal fees and make him back down.
How Deep State of her...
There is a nice compromise to this issue. The student will agree to not publicize the travels of these private jets if Taylor Swift and the others he tracks agree to stop publically talking about climate change. If they make a statement, then he resumes tracking.
She commands an army of millions. A snap of her fingers and a hoard of Swifties will take care of this guy.
When I first heard this, I thought safety may be an issue. But I didn’t realize he was looking at her carbon usage. Maybe a compromise is not releasing the info until she is back in the United States.
If it’s legal, it’s legal.
In these days of swatting crimes, time to change tracking info legalities.
I'd start with punishing criminals to the full extent of the law.
Anybody with a computer can access FlightAware. What’s the big deal?
Also, many plane owners have their plane information blocked on Flightaware, so, it cannot be tracked. If she did not do that, then that is on her.
Hey swift... drama queen much?
Doesn’t Taylor Swift actually have a stalker that has threatened her?
You would think she would block this flight information if it was legal to do that.
And now more people than ever know about nit and can access it, because she couldn’t keep her bigmouth shut.
She’ll just send Travis to kick his Azz after the Super Bowl.

“Also, many plane owners have their plane information blocked on Flightaware,”
Didn’t know that. Makes sense. Thanks!
I’m going to block tracking on my Gulfstream G800.
That’s only true if the operator chooses to use PIA rather than ADS-B Out via LADD. And that only works within the US. Once these globe-hopping hipsters leave FAA boundaries the plane must again transmit is ICAO identification code…and whoopsie! Busted!
When LEO can’t track the swatters then its time to change what data/info is made public. I won’t use Google to track my family. Geek son has a way to privately track our phones and even AirTags without any Apple tools.
Just the latest example of the Streisand Effect.
It’s kind of like shouting “Don’t look at me!” in a crowded room.
