No big deal, right?
I got to thinking on how the great immigration years of the late 1800’s into the early 20th centry compare to what is going on now.
Does the quality of the immigrant matter?
The current mania for mass immigration is in contrast to the screaming from 1968-1990 about “Overpopulation!” which lead to the birth dearth we see in the native population and was one of the justifications for Roe v. Wade.
Funny how the same people who vociferously shrieked about Overpopulation back then are the same people now who scream that we need more “immigrants”.
But of course...the “immigrants” don’t look like us, and are in most cases people from countries that have been our age old enemies.
Funny that
Take a look at the graphs, particularly 1970-1971.
Is it not a coincidence that inflation-adjusted American wages peaked in 1971?
Is it not obvious that “management” got what it wanted and broke American workers?
It can’t all be pinned on the Democrats. How many times have we heard RINOs talking about what the “chamber” wants?
Big spike from the Immigration Act of 1966 establishing chain migration. One family member gets in and then brings the all the relatives.
time to shut it down for 50 years, just like 100 years ago.
We need at least 30 years of no immigration
Doesn’t matter. The point of immigration was to stock the country. It’s full.
All I have to do is go over to my local CostCo to see the result of mass immigration - you’ll hear every language in there EXCEPT English.
What they didn’t have in the 1870-1920s...
Excessive welfare benefits: Food stamps, Aid to Families with Dependent Children, free or subsidized housing, race-based higher education...
Woke culture that hates traditional American values of hard work and learning, and a merit-based system.
Belief that rags-to-riches is impossible because of evil white people institutionalized supremacy and racism.
democrat party leadership that hated America and all that she stood for, er, wait, they did have that.
data is racist
IMMIGRANTS ???
or partial illegal aliens ???
From the end of the civil war until about 1910, the USA under the Homestead Act of 1862 opened up vast amounts of vacant land west of the Mississippi River and that is why immigrants represented 15% of the population during those 40 years.
Sorry, current invaders, all of the land in the USA is currently occupied and we do not need you.
