Herbert "Cowboy" Coward, who as the sadistic toothless man in John Boorman's Deliverance terrorized canoeists and audiences alike with the chilling line, "He got a real pretty mouth, ain't he?," has been killed in a car accident. He was 85.
Coward died Wednesday when the Nissan he was driving was struck by a pickup truck driven by a 16-year-old in Haywood County, North Carolina, North Carolina State Highway Patrol officials told WLOS-TV.

The movie was very uncomfortable but a must see, everything from dueling banjo’s to a little louder now and everything in between, great movie but uncomfortable to watch
I didn’t know Brandon could play the banjo!
Marrying first cousins is legal in NY. The mafioso Paul Castellano married his first cousin and Rudy Giuliani married his first cousin once removed.
The actor and Reynolds remained friends for the rest of their lives..................
Most southerners thought Deliverance was a documentary.
You’d be shocked how many people actually believe that bullshit.

I’m not surprised. I have lived in the hills of E. Tennessee my entire life and it amazes me how many believe we are like that. Friends of ours from Wisconsin came to visit several years ago and wanted to go see some real hillbillies. It took forever to find some and when we did, it took a 4WD to get there. They were disappointed that they weren’t like the ones in Deliverance. 🙄 They were a little nervous around the mountain people we did find but I reassured them that as long as they were with me, they would be fine. LOL
Didn’t you hate this movie for slandering southerners? Even as a young lad seeing this it never struck me as being about backwoods southerners being gay and more about creepy people in general.
I once read that Howard approached the part pretty aggressively and the scene got so intense at one point Burt Reynolds stepped in and stopped it. Apparently it really got out of hand and Ned Beatty started freaking out.
Poor old Ned Beatty had strip down to his tightly whites and simulate getting raped by another man and squeal like a pig
Looks like he got paid enough to buy some teeth at least
Hippie homosexuality?
What are you talking about?
Aggravatin’ ain’t it?
Back in the 80s I took a trip to Northern California, the girl I was dating was from there so we went to visit her family. One night they invited a black couple over for a cookout. They had been told where I was from and I could tell by their reaction when they met me they were expecting me to don a white sheet and hood and commence to burning a cross......they were more than shocked when I had absolutely no reaction to them being black and carried on a polite conversation with them the entire evening.
Unbelievable SMH
One article says he lost his front teeth when a staged gunfight went wrong and he got hit in the mouth with a pistol!...............
The sodomites that we’re part of the drug fueled hippie movement trying to mainstream the perversion
Is that Joe Scarborough????
From pedophilia to incest, rape to down-low homosexuality, and just the twisting of sexual norms among a population in general, I think that would be the inner city population, not country folk.
Think of the sexual stew of a huge percentage of the fatherless but filled with live-in males and male visitors to the households filled with plenty of children, plenty of them half-sisters, half-brothers, and steps with promiscuous moms and ever-changing men with a huge percentage of them having spent time in prison and being the most sexually predatory of the prison population.
LOL, I think you don’t know much about hippies and how we lived.
It is frustrating. To those that have never been to the South, we are all uneducated, tobacco spitting, inbred, white supremacists.
Wel…It does explain your willful ignorance on this forum! I grew up with 2 hippies who warned me incessantly about the queers that groomed children and abused each other. Needless to say, I was more streetwise than my peers
