a successful 8-second ride

Seems like too much risk for such a short thrill.

Yikes! I guess we could simulate that by taking a tumble in a commercial dryer!

Prayers up for this brave kid!

Whether Broderson will be able to return to rodeo is a big unknown this point

Torn artery, possible nerves torn out of spine, hematoma at the top of his spine, and his spinal plexus nerves have been severely damaged. I think he's done with rodeo.

Poor kid. I hope and pray he recovers. At least it sounds like he got out without brain injury which is a miracle.

I have always wondered about the medical bills of rodeo cowboys when they are 50 to 80 years old.

I still can’t figure out how his hand was stuck in the rigging ring. I get the rig slipping. I used to ride a lot and the saddle cinch would often slide no matter how tight I tied it. I’m still amazed to watch, say, Lucas McCain slowly mount his >200 pounds up and over and the saddle sticks like it’s glued in place.

I can’t even use my usual sense of humor with this one.

I bet this kid will “cowboy up” and be back competing as soon as his injuries have healed. that’s what rodeo competitors do.
