(NewsNation) — A search-and-rescue operation is continuing for two U.S. Navy SEALs who went missing during a mission to seize Iranian-made missiles from a boat headed for Houthi fighters in Yemen.

U.S. CENTCOM, which oversees operations in the Middle East, said SEALs operating from the USS Lewis B Puller, supported by helicopters and drones, seized a vessel off the coast of Somalia, south of Yemen. They said it had been illegally transporting weapons parts to the Houthis. The Pentagon said one of the SEALs fell into the ocean while trying to board the small boat, and the other SEAL — following protocol — jumped in after him to help.

Why were Seals involved in boarding a dhow that had missiles on board?

Why not just sink it?

Seems like an odd protocol.

Going from Iran to Yemen, yet it was near Somalia.
The Gulf of Aden is 300 miles wide, less by Djibouti.

There is probably a lot more to this than reported. Navy Seals are great swimmers and continually train. Earlier reports indicated the water was warm, unkown if it was stormy at the time.

Something is off about this whole story.

Agree.

Considering who’s running the Pentagon right now this is more than likely going to be just one more story we the people will never get the truth about.

"Something is off about this whole story."

Exactly, and it starts with the CIC (Obama, not Biden) telling his fellow travelers in the military how to conduct war. The military is fully capable of stopping every possible Houthi missile overnight with no capability of recovering for years.

Pray they are not in the hands of the Houthis.

They probably needed proof of what they were carrying before they sank the vessel.

Interesting how Reyes obfuscated and dodged a direct answer to the question if that was a normal thing for a SEAL to do when a team member went into the water.

A non-answer answer.

I would suspect IF they were captured by the Houthis we would have heard about it by now. They would be displaying them like prizes at the fair. It would be well covered by Al Jezerra

Then the answer is to stop it and board it.

Sketchy Stuff Again – This Announcement and Story Just Doesn’t Pass Sniff Test

January 14, 2024 | Sundance | 403 Comments

I hate to be captain obvious again, but maybe people have not noticed this story.  Something isn’t right and just doesn’t add up.  The events took place last Thursday, the comments by National Security Council spokesman John Kirby are today.

Look at the contrast between what U.S. Central Command put out -vs- the first AP report on the same incident.

[CentCom Source LINK]

Now look at the AP FIRST NOTICE reporting:

Two U.S. Navy SEALs are missing after conducting a nighttime boarding mission Thursday off the coast of Somalia, according to three U.S. officials.

The SEALs were on an interdiction mission, climbing up a vessel when one got knocked off by high waves. Under their protocol, when one SEAL is overtaken the next jumps in after them.

Both SEALs are still missing. A search and rescue mission is underway and the waters in the Gulf of Aden, where they were operating, are warm, two of the U.S. officials said. (read more)

We are supposed to believe that two naval special force operators, Navy SEALS, doing a ship-to-ship transfer, fully kitted, fell into the water, suddenly disappeared and could not be located in the two days between the CentCom announcement (Jan 11) and the AP report (Jan 13).

Eh… nope.  Sketchy!

So, here’s National Security Council spokesman John Kirby today.

WATCH:

Search is "still ongoing" for two U.S. Navy sailors missing off Somalia, John Kirby says

Notice the emphasis on….

The mission was not related to Operation Prosperity Guardian, the ongoing U.S. and international mission to provide protection to commercial vessels in the Red Sea, or the retaliatory strikes that the United States and the United Kingdom have conducted in Yemen over the past two days.”…

Sorry, but when you spend so much time telling me what it is not, I suspect it is exactly what you say it isn’t.

So, my non-pretending Occam’s razor takeaway:

Two Navy SEAL combat “KIA’s”, killed in action directly as a result of U.S. operations in/around Yemen, have been turned into two innocuous Navy SEAL “MIA’s” because their death would be politically problematic for the administration.

I don’t mean that. It just seemed like jumping into dangerous water might not always be the best way to affect a rescue. One drowning man can drag down another who comes to the rescue.

I figure the SEALs know what they’re doing and I don’t mean to second guess the experts. But I’m not sure I want to rush and believe what the journalists tells me.

the typical routes are being heavily patrolled... it’s not odd they’d try to divert around, etc.

One report I saw stated the Seals have radio beacons attached to their persons in such situations.
