John Hopkins Chief Diversity Officer Retracts and Disavows Privilege ‘Hit List’

The “Chief Diversity Officer” at Johns Hopkins Medicine has already retracted, disavowed and apologized for a privilege “hit list” that scapegoated white people, heterosexuals, Christians, men, and others in a newsletter that went viral this week.

The X account @EndWokeness on Wednesday drew attention to a “Diversity Word of the Month” article in the January 2024 issue of Monthly Diversity Digest from the school’s Diversity, Inclusion, and Health Equity (DEI) office, headed by Chief Diversity Officer Dr. Sherita H. Golden.

“John Hopkins just sent out this hit list of people automatically guilty of ‘privilege’ whether they know it or not,” @EndWokeness wrote.

John Hopkins just sent out this hit list of people automatically guilty of "privilege" whether they know it or not:

-Males -Whites -Christians -Mid-aged people -Able-bodied people -Middle & owning class -English-speaking people

“Privilege is an unearned benefit given to people who are in a specific social group. Privilege operates on personal, interpersonal, cultural and institutional levels, and it provides advantages and favors to members of dominant groups at the expense of members of other groups,” Monthly Diversity Digest asserted, adding, “In the United States, privilege is granted to people who have membership in one or more of these social identity groups: White people, able-bodied people, heterosexuals, heterosexuals, males, Christians, middle or owning class people, middle-aged people, and English-speaking people.”

The article continued: “Privilege is characteristically invisible to people who have it. People in dominant groups often believe they have earned the privileges they enjoy or that everyone could have access to these privileges if only they worked to earn them. In fact, privileges are unearned and are granted to people in the dominant groups whether they want those privileges or not, and regardless of their stated intent.”

The post went viral Wednesday afternoon, with many critics expressing shock that the once respected and revered John Hopkins had stooped to such an appalling and inane level of discourse.

The backlash prompted Golden to release a statement on Thursday completely retracting and disavowing the privilege list. After thinking about it, the diversity officer said she realized the wording in the newsletter was not “inclusive” at all but was in fact “exclusionary and hurtful.”

“The newsletter included a definition of the word ‘privilege’ which, upon reflection, I deeply regret. The intent of the newsletter is to inform and support an inclusive community at Hopkins, but the language of this definition clearly did not meet that goal. In fact, because it was overly simplistic and poorly worded, it had the opposite effect of being exclusionary and hurtful to members of our community,” Golden wrote.

“I retract and disavow the definition I shared, and I am sorry. I will work to ensure that future messages better reflect our organizational values.”

Johns Hopkins Medicine said in a statement to Deseret News that the newsletter had contradicted the values of the institution.

“The January edition of the monthly newsletter from the Johns Hopkins Medicine Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Health Equity used language that contradicts the values of Johns Hopkins as an institution. Dr. Sherita Golden, Johns Hopkins Medicine’s Chief Diversity Officer, has sincerely acknowledged this mistake and retracted the language used in the message,” a spokesperson said.

It’s amazing what a phone call from the Legal Dept can do when it comes to adjusting one’s public opinion.

You show up on time? My (100% German, white, Lutheran, conservative, hard working, tough as nails, decent, kid/dog loving) Grandfather once told me “If you’re on time, you’re LATE!” So I guess as it turns out, I’m Uber Privileged... :)

I think she meant every word she wrote. She just did not expect the backlash.

These ghetto-nurtured “suppressed” black women get a little power,
a title, a hefty paycheck, knowing deep down they cant compete at that level.

So they trash their superiors to bring them down to their level.

This hateful racist knew exactly what she wrote. She has advanced higher education, numerous advanced certifications ans a litany of honors and recognition from academia and now we are supposed to believe she made a mistake using the word privileged, like she somehow misunderstood it?

She absolutely believes what she wrote, nothing has changed, Hopkins just got to much heat and wants to now hide their murderous ideology, make no mistake going there as anyone on that list is effectively risking a death sentence due to racist hate.

A physician on staff at Johns Hopkins has to be very well paid, and her net worth well above most Americans of any COLOR. So the argument about "privilege" is stupid beyond stupid beyond stupid.

But this is what Lefty / Democrat politics is become. Most Americans -- so many of them caught up in the BS argument about "privilege" -- earn FAR LESS than the physician proclaiming "white privilege" as an issue.

Here are some ideas about "white privilege" which are never leveled as accusations. Joe Biden. Nancy Pelosi. Anthony Fauci. Charles Schumer. Gavin Newsom. Anthony Blinken. General Milley, now retired. How about an oldie but goodie -- Jimmy Carter? How about Chuck Todd. Durbin. Such a list.... And internationally? Ursula von der Leyen. Jens Stoltenberg. Zelensky as well as Putin. Josep Borell. Such a list. White and lily and white as the pee'd on snow....

THIS is the one hospital with a doctor who is one of the best in the country for a particular surgery I need. And THIS piece of trash human is part of the administration. Let’s just say I check a few boxes that are on the DIE list. WTF is wrong with people who don’t stop this insanity?

Nothing will happen to this commissar. In fact she will be given more money and power by the very people on her list. Any institution that embrace DEI begins to rot. The stench is unmistakable.

The posting of Diversity dupe, Dr Sherita Golden, (she’s a doctor?) had many critics expressing shock that the once respected and revered John Hopkins had stooped to such an appalling and inane level of discourse.

Golden “said” the intense backlash prompted her to retract and disavow the privilege list.

Or did Johns Hopkins threaten her cushy, well-paid job, pontificating about people she clearly despises?

After thinking about it (she actually thinks?), she “realized” the wording was not “inclusive” at all but was in fact “exclusionary and hurtful.”

Or did she plagiarize that with Claudine Gay’s help?

Does Johns Hopkins have a position on genocide?

I would quite seriously ask the surgeon and their team if they will treat you any differently on the table because you are concerned John’s Hopkins values one’s life primarily on the color of your skin and your biological sex.

“Johns Hopkins Medicine said in a statement to Deseret News that the newsletter had contradicted the values of the institution”

The racist should be fired, with all of her “privileges” revoked. If a white person had published anything even close to this bigoted and “exclusionary” they would already be gone. Every American knows that there would be no excuses or forgiveness for any white person in this situation.

The racist can find other employment.

They know there is no punishment for their hatred of white people.

If this is what she dared to write, can you even begin to imagine how she thinks and feels that she isn’t saying???!!!

WTF is wrong with people who don’t stop this insanity?

Her vile opinions are not the problem. The person that hired her and placed her in that position is the problem. She did what she was hired to do with the skill set she brought. This is a top management failure.

--- "And her privilege is BECAUSE OF HER COLOR."

One cannot fully know whether her scores and accomplishments in education did or did not help her advance to her privilege position.

But the point is made, as has been made so well by black conservatives like Sowell and Williams. "Affirmative action" policies will sully the perception of actual accomplishment with perceived "thumb on the scale."

Her error was / is to play the white privilege card -- a form of that so-called ace card -- from her position.

Most Americans ( and most are "white" ) earn far, far less than does she. So the argument falls in upon itself. Such is the nature of the current Left's ideology.
