The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
If you have specific question about a plant/problem you are having, please remember to state the Growing Zone where you are located.
This thread is a non-political respite. No matter what, you won’t be flamed, and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table Recipes, Preserving, Good Living - there is no telling where it will go - and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us! Send a Private Message to Diana in Wisconsin if you'd like to be added to our New & Improved Ping List.
NOTE: This is a once a week Ping List. We DO post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest to Gardeners are welcomed any time!
Wearing your Raccoon headband...no question! I am sure your attendance added an air of elegance to the ball game and fish fry ! (Hope you had a good time and your team won!)
That’s pretty much my hat, but mine is a little lighter in color. We have a friend that does beautiful fur work. Beau gives her his racoon hides as they’re not worth SPIT these days. My hat is made from one he got a few years ago. She is currently working on a vest for him from other raccoon hides he’s culled through the years.
Barneveld Eagles WON! (We knew they would...)

When we went out to dinner before the game, (Ope Pub) the place was full of snowmobile riders and they are always a fun bunch! The Military Ridge State Trail goes right through Barneveld and is used for snowmobiles in the winter months, though they have to share with the cross-country skiers. I’m not sure how that works out, LOL!
If anyone is a Weather Geek Historian, Barneveld, WI was totally DEMOLISHED by an F5 Tornado on June 8, 1984. It hit at 1am, so it was pretty devastating. 93 homes were destroyed and nine people died. :(

Anyhow, the town rebuilt and is better than ever. A guy I used to work with was the manager of the only Bank in town and after the tornado went through, all that was left was the giant SAFE from the bank! Just the safe, surrounded by rubble.
While I lived in Chicago at the time my Family was in SE Wisconsin. I do remember the tornado...
The hat. Fur for a Frigid place! It has a Julie Christie in Dr Zhivago look! ("This house has enough room for 13 families!" Coming our way!)
Snowmobiles...I am well acquainted with the sounds they make at 1:00AM when the bars close and they all go out hunting for barb wire fences and irritated old people with shotguns! (They also like to go out on "Frozen" lakes looking for the soft spot over the subsurface spring!)
Ah well, Daughter#1 here to day from her group home! Need to go do nails and hair!
Augie; The weather was truly bad that week, but most of all, for the loss of your friend. Condolences to you and to his family.
