A U.S. Navy helicopter crashed in Southern California on Thursday night, according to a military spokesperson.
A MH-60R Seahawk crashed in the waters of San Diego Bay shortly after 6:30 p.m., as the aircraft was participating in a training exercise, according to Cmdr. Beth Teach of the Naval Air Force Pacific Fleet. All six crew members survived the crash.
"Due to the nature of the training, a safety boat was on location," the statement said. The surviving crew members were rescued from the water, taken ashore and underwent medical evaluations.

The Naval aviation rework facility I worked at has 2 sister facilities. One in Cherry Point NC (FRC East) the other at NAS North Island CA (FRCSW)
The California facility has H-60R Seahawk workload.....just sayin’. 😏

reminds of old misdirection joke something like, if a plane crashed right on the 4 corners out West, in which state would they bury the survivors?
I worked the DSRV on North Island and loved working on Submarines.
Ah yes....the vehicle of the beloved bubbleheads.
Best possible outcome would have been no crash.
I would put money that this is our DEI miliary in action. We’ll never know. I shudder to think what will happen under actual hostile fire.

The EA-6B Prowler started life in 1971 as the A-6 Intruder airframe. The Navy didn’t retire it until 2019.
The Navy does so like to get their money’s worth out of their aircraft platforms. TOO long in my humble opinion.
Having said that, working around the power plants on those jets paid a lot of my bills for a long time....and I’m grateful.
The problem with helicopters is the glide ratio.
It doesn’t have one.....................
EA-6B Prowler...........My company designed and built some of the ‘electronics’ used on that A/C...................
Guessing this was rescue swimmer training or something similar - given there was a safety boat there and it seems they were fairly low altitude given what appear to be no significant injures.
Somebody at Pratt Whitney was a genius.
The J52 turbojet engine that powered the A-6/EA-6B started life as the AGM-28 Hound Dog cruise missle.
A one flight rocket motor converted to jet engine platform that lasted 50 years.
Now THAT’S American ingenuity!
