We need separation of Sports and State.
Circus!! NO MORE TAXPAYERS MONEY!!
Jacksonville if facing the same issue with the Jaguars, the Owner wants 2 billion in renovations to the stadium and he’s pledging to put up 1 billion of his own money.
Circuses for the frogs in the pot.
Bread and circuses, without the bread!
More like prepping for a return to one of Satan’s favorite ancient “games,” Lions-vs-Christians.
That’s happening in my town. Our new liberal mayor wants to spend TWO BILLION DOLLARS on a domed stadium to replace the open stadium our nfl team uses that was built in 1995.
Lambeau field in Green Bay is 66+ years old and I don’t hear those people crying about needing a domed stadium......know why? The people of Green Bay own it and know better than to piss money away on a new venue.
What we have here, is another lib wanting to spend everybody else’s money.
Most of the members here are still super obsessed with watching sports, I’m sure they are thrilled about this news. We’ll get to the revolution after the playoffs.
Prisons and massive mental asylum skyscrapers in every major city are what we need. In addition to locked down addiction towers.
A federal ticket tax could be used to fund local K-12 education.
No tax money should be used for sport stadiums. They need to be investing in making their city a safe and desirable place to live.
If the people are dumb enough to vote for a tax fund private business, let them be taxed to fund the billionaire businessmen.
It’s the Democrat reprise of the old Roman “Bread and Circuses” ploy.
Taxpayers get ripped off and the only ones who prosper and afford to enjoy it are rich people.
Let rich people pay the costs.
Do any of these Stadium deals still use personal seat licenses to raise money to build the stadium?
I recall hearing about personal seat licenses years ago, From what I heard , public money was not needed to build a stadium, because the people who were buying tickets to the games would be paying for the new stadium. The personal seat licenses of many thousands of dollars per seat, supposedly created a pool of money in the hundreds of millions of dollars to build the stadium.
It seems that we are in a sports world nowadays , in which team owners want to build new stadiums and arenas about every 20 years. Stadiums just don’t seem to be state-of-the-art very long anymore.
I read that sports stadiums are mostly empty these days. Former fans are sick of all the Pride events and kneeling to BLM.
Cakes and circuses to appease the masses and grease the palms of the politically connected.
Ticket prices have been raised to the roof
such that
normal working American citizens are priced out of attendance
as such, any new stadii serve no genuine public purpose (even if we like sports) ...
if there are to be new ones, the owners... as good capitalists...should finance them themselves!
Yep. Orwell said in 1984, just give them lots of football and beer and they will be a cinch to control.
