Our pastor gave a sermon about lusting. Some long-ago theologian was told “Well I can’t help it if I appreciate the beauty of a woman that God created.”
The theologian said “I appreciate the beauty of a bird - but I don’t let it build a nest on my head.”
Our pastor made some distinction of appreciating the looks of a pretty gal and the long looks and undressing her in one’s head, and fantasizing over her later on (building a nest in one’s head).. I’m sure there was a bunch more in his 45 minute sermon, but that part I remembered.
Your response to his betrayal, while accepted by the majority of freepers here, is appalling to me if you’re a Christian.
Is forgiveness not basically the heart of being Christian?
Biblically you do have grounds for divorce, but no grounds
for not forgiving him. After 27 years I’d guess you already wanted out anyways.

Hope you are doing well FRiend. Not on here as much recently for work is busy, good to see you are still on the board.
The two thieves is one of my favorite scriptures. Christ’s mercy to the one thief, who repented (accepting his earthly punishment too) though his remaining time on earth was extremely short. Repentance was the case with my friend, and God’s mercy given to him through his wife’s forgiveness is quite profound, and they were blessed with another 40 years. She is a saint. There can be no other explanation in their case from what has been revealed to me.
Your daughter’s ex ... reminds me of that song ... looking for love in all the wrong places.
Why risk what one has can keep one inside the guardrails.
The movie ending in the War of the Roses also has two propositions which can be restated a bit .... that a person should consider before cheating - (1) expect divorce will occur because of cheating will be exposed, then get it over quickly, suffer and rebuild your damaged life .... (2) don’t cheat because one should remember why one fell in love with their spouse, go home and rekindle that love. It is difficult to justify a few moments of pleasure for a remaining lifetime of pain and hurt, especially given to others who are victimized - ex-spouse, and children (no matter how old they are).
The Man-Adam losing his helper-nurturer.
The woman-Eve losing her lead, losing “sight” of her lead responsibility. Presence.
Other than somethings obvious, multiple records, not many red flags on men, yet they sure are denigrated and dismissed, even despised in western society.
Any opportunity to exploit and waste by the hypergamy.
This family is grateful not to watch television here for years.

Yep. The no fault divorce court laws favor the woman, so now they figured out they can cheat and still get cash and prizes.
Some states still have at fault where cheating is punished.
