But your categorizing a 21 year old woman as a prepubescent child is an interesting insight into your mental state.
Edelweiss--Friedrich Ahlers (1939)
You’re nuts
I’m not saying it made a major contribution, but every brick in the pyramid hurts.
Enjoy the view from the river.
It wasn’t just Andrews—the script was a major departure from reality.
The Uncle Max figure was actually a Catholic priest, and the music was Palestrina and other forms of liturgical polyphony.
Fun movie in some ways, but slightly less grounded in the nitty gritty of reality than Michael Landon’s Little House.
.
We saw Theodore Bikel play opposite Roberta peters Maria in 1982 at Wolf trap Farm Park outside of Washington. Bikel was the opposite of dashing Christopher Plummer. Peters was a retired opera singer and was fabulous. Marnie Nixon was also in it as one of the nuns.
Your insanity needs no participation by me. Enjoy your angst
Interesting - I still think this is a literary masterpiece, the best thing that has ever been projected on screen.
I think it was Mark Steyn who wrote about Edel Weis, a Austrian gentleman immigrant who told of remembering singing that song when he was a young lad in Austria before WWII. Of course the song was not written till the 60’s. Many people think that it is the national anthem of Austria.
“”Johnny Mandel was a genius arranger on the instrumental accompaniments for most of Sinatra’s greatest songs. They really really rock.””
Absolutely and the bands that worked with him were phenomenal - Nelson Riddle is all I can think of right now. The good old days really WERE the good old days!
I think I kept the program of “The King and I” seen in the late ‘70’s in Hollywood and that would probably have the ticket stub (price) attached but right now I can’t get to it - bottom shelf of a cabinet with all other programs I saved over the years. AGE prevents me from getting to that bottom shelf...Also saw “My Fair Lady” in the same theater - wanted to go back to see “Camelot” but didn’t make that one. Seeing any of those shows on Broadway would have been the thrill of a lifetime!!!!
Closest I’ve ever been to any stage was a show of Andre’ Rieu at Universal City also years ago - front row seat. I was in 7th Heaven. My husband and I sat next to a lady who said she went to every place he performed in US cities..
Now that’s a real fan or fanatic!!!
Also Les Brown band if I recall correctly...
Andre Rieu….. that must’ve been magnificent, I’ve watched some of his shows on YouTube. His productions are so amazing!

True. After we moved from CA to GA, he was scheduled for a performance at the Gwinnett Center (whatever it was) and I would have loved to go but it hadn’t been that long since we saw him in CA and I didn’t think we should spend the $$. I have some of his CD’s and play those a lot. But seeing that orchestra in person with all the color of the girl’s dresses etc., is something!! Seeing the people get out of their seats and dancing in the aisles is awesome too.
Have you seen the performance of the young gal who won “Holland Has Talent” (?) with his orchestra. Fabulous and can’t be forgotten. I’ll see if I can find it and link you to it here.

No, I don’t think I have. I’m sure her performance was first rate!
Told you I’d look for it - can’t find a shorter URL tho’ I understand it’s possible to condense it down but here is the LONG version. Probably just be easier for you to google it - Andrew Rieu and Amira...She taught herself to sing opera..the whole family sang or played an instrument and she didn’t want to be left out. I think she was 9 when she won the “Holland Has Talent”...You can find that show online also and they were absolutely dumbfounded at her performance - speechless!
This is better - sorry for the other long URL.....you can see her father and brother react to her winning the Holland Has Talent....and the panel was just flabbergasted..
