SCOTUS has the ability, they are the only ones, to reset this whole mess, and restore the dignity to the Presidency and Dept of Justice.
Take the name TRUMP out of the lawsuits, and it would be easy to see that the prosecutions are an injustice to this man, because, with ANY other defendant, all cases would be thrown out long ago.
In short, the SCOTUS alone can bring common sense to all the arguments and issues being raised here.
A 9-0 ruling to throw out all these ridiculous lawsuits against Trump and others, would go far to unite the country.
If it comes back 5 to 4, or even 6 to 3 a win for Trump, it won’t put this thing to rest but initiate further resentment of our system from both sides.
But, Heaven forbid we lose 5 to 4, or worse yet 6 to 4, then this country is doomed, as it will open up a pandora’s box of lawsuits from “our side against their side”, and give further incentives to the left-wing radicals in media, DOJ, and Congress, among other entities to go after Trump and other conservatives.
Most of all, it will destroy the balance of power in the third wing of our government probably forever. Any future or even past presidency can now be sued for just about anything, but also in civil court?
Think about that in the context of what Americans, since our founding have seen and endured. We need all three equal branches of government.
Surely, there is common sense somewhere in the system to put us back to a time when we had respect for one another, and where we accepted vote outcomes, good or bad, but when we also had the right to voice a complaint about the integrity of the elections, without facing imprisonment.
There was no Trump-induced insurrection, everyone knows that.
The J-6 demonstration was mostly peaceful, conducted mostly by Peaceful God-fearing Americans. Everyone knows that.
Dozens if not a couple hundred, FBI and other agents intentionally instigated some to not be peaceful. Everyone with any common sense knows that too.
For all we know, the people who rioted and destroyed property could have been Antifa or BLM or even planted agents.
The 44,000 hours of J-6 video have been released, BUT THE FACES OF THE PARTICIPANTS ARE BEING BLURRED OUT? WHY?
Every one of the lawsuits against Trump is politically motivated. Everyone knows that, and people like Liz Cheney and this guy Kinsinger are mentally ill for all we know.
Let us pray that the SCOTUS puts this whole mess to rest with a strong ruling on the side of what is fair and right for all Americans and future presidents.
“ Every president from here on out will be sued. No question.”
No, they won’t. You live under a single-party fascism of political and technological elites. As long as the president comes out of that fascist system - and with full and complete control of elections within the government class they all will for as long as this system exists - they are fully and completely protected from everything and anything - no prosecutions no lawsuits allowed. It is only if somehow their control of the system fails and a president is actually elected by the people that such things would be allowed as a backstop against the fascist system losing control. As is happening now with Trump.
And? Roe was overturned 6-3.
Re: 48 - there will. be no civil war.
Not in the way you imagine one will occur.
Good point and one people should pay heed to. Rightly or wrongly, Supreme Court justices do not always hew to the political persuasions of the Presidents that selected them.
And.....didn’t I SAY that Roe v Wade was overturned? I guess you neglected to read the part where I said they were sore losers and cited their protests and threats against the Aye voting Justices as an example.
I believe that oversimplifies the issue. The Court's credibility is only as good as their decisions being adhered to. And sometimes, politics played a role in cases being accepted for hearing.
Politics were definitely a consideration shortly thereafter Brown v. Board of Education I was decided in 1954. Supreme Court law clerks in 1954 noted that Justices were wary of taking on cases regarding state anti-miscegenation laws, which were pretty clearly unconstitutional as they used race as a classification to criminalize interracial marriage.
Re: 86 - My apologies, as I should have been clear that it was the Left that had the issue, not you.
Leftists and Democrats only care about the Constitution when it supports their positions. And even those positions and their interpretations of Constitutional support are usually wildly wrong. Especially on 2A matters.
exactly, we're in heep big trouble, We got Scotus by a thread, the House is in trouble but better w/o that RINO McCarthy, and the Senate is in Schumer's hands. Heap BIG trouble.
I'd say that it's more than that, as the 2nd Amendment was not fully incorporated until 2010 in MacDonald v. Chicago.
So tell me then, how will it be?
Re: 92 - Unsure.
Then how do you know it won’t be as I imagine (whatever that is?)
A 6-4 vote would validate Trump’s claims about fraudulent counting in the election.
Good point. I don’t know.
But I certainly don’t advocate or look forward to “light this candle now”.
I think I get your point, however, the seventeenth amendment turned them into glorified representatives by virtue of ignoring the two year term limit for actual representatives as they went about changing the entire concept of our government and Senators specifically.
Senators were tasked with maintaining the interest of their various States, not as representative of “We the People”. We already had representatives, “Senators” is what the Constitution mandated.
I wrote a piece on that comment, but reluctantly pulled it knowing you would see the stark difference between the first comment and the unnecessary second part.
“If so, the Supreme Court justices are utterly confused morally and intellectually, and the USA is lost.”
Yep, unfortunately that has been the situation since Clinton.
If what you say is true, and now that the other J-6 lawsuit has been put on hold pending the decision of the SCOTUS, does this mean that there will be no hearings going forward until roughly June to July 2024?
So, how can any court make a determination in the final stretch of the presidential campaign?
I sincerely hope your Zen Master is right, and I suggest that you post this prediction for everyone to see.
My own feeling is the SCOTUS will do just the opposite, and have their hearing quite soon, probably in March.
