A Shameful Ruling Class that Shamelessly Shames Good Americans
American Thinker ^ | 11 Dec, 2023 | J.B. Shurk

Knowing one another’s dirty secrets is the glue that binds a government run by criminals.

America is not meant to have a “ruling class.” The Declaration of Independence takes direct aim at an entrenched aristocracy by stating a “self-evident” truth that “all men are created equal.” People, of course, are not naturally equal. They are blessed with individual talents and carry through their lives individual burdens, but no person is born with a divine right to rule over others. On the contrary, through God’s gifts of life and liberty to each one of us, we are capable of governing ourselves. That is harder than it sounds because self-government is a responsibility that requires work and vigilance.

Unscrupulous individuals intent on seizing greater power for themselves take advantage of self-government’s labors by promising to do the heavy lifting for others in exchange for their liberty. I’ll protect you. I’ll keep you safe and secure. I’ll make you happy. Just do exactly what I say. It is a Faustian bargain that has led generations of once-free peoples to discover only years later that they have been left imprisoned in chains.

There is no human form of government that does not become corrupt over time. As soon as any political system is erected to govern a population, the clock starts ticking toward its demise. The principal reason this is true is that humans are naturally sinful — a burden common to us all — and, therefore, any human-created system will tend to reflect that sinful nature on the path toward its own destruction. Even governments founded on the noblest of principles and respect for civic virtues — such as the truth that we are endowed “with certain unalienable rights” that no legitimate government may infringe — will come to undermine those foundations...

Because the least virtuous people are most attracted to power, the longer that any political system persists, the more corrupt it will become.

The Declaration of Independence also says that it is our duty to revolt again if our government becomes dictatorial. And brother, we long past that point.

Personally, I am proud of being Poor White Trash (pron. Redneck/Hillbilly/Cracker).

We the People built this nation, made it strong and kept it free.

The Highborn destroyed it.

Yes, we did build it but the reptiles who rule us hate us. It is time to return the favor.

Also, the reptiles that rule us are not highborn. Most of them are the children and grandchildren of mobsters. Do a little research on the background of a lot of Democrats and Republicans and you’ll find mobsters. Take Nancy Pelosi, her father was the mob-connected mayor of Baltimore for chrissakes..

America is not meant to have a “ruling class.”

The author is flat-out wrong about this. The U.S. was established as an oligarchy by design. That’s why silly, delusional terms like “democracy” don’t appear in our founding documents.

There’s no way in hell iconic men like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison ever intended to establish a system of governance where their interests could be subverted to the votes of their hired help.

This is a republic.

Our Founding Fathers did not establish an oligarchy. They fully expected the citizenry to vote for what made sense and expected morals to be a part of that.

You have a most perverse interpretation of US history, but I expect that from a Canadian, eh?

If I was a Canadian you might have a point, eh? :-O

They fully expected the citizenry to vote for what made sense and expected morals to be a part of that.

Yes, they did. Go back and look at how "the citizenry" was defined in democratic processes back then to see what I mean.

There were fewer than 45,000 votes cast in each of the first four presidential elections in this country. The U.S. Census Bureau lists a total U.S. population of about 5.3 million for the 1800 census.

The founders of this country would find it repulsive that every jackass aged 18 and older who can breathe on a mirror should have the right to vote.

It is a masterful article.

I don’t fully agree with the following.

“Since WWII, the U.S. has been in an endless state of war from one region of the world to the next without any formal declarations or any electoral mechanism through which the American people may object.”

In my opinion the Congressional authorization to use force in Iraq was a declaration of war in all but name.

The article is much more right than wrong.

I’m sure words were uttered prior to and during the American revolution (perhaps all our wars) that could be challenged as well. It’s been said that it is better to be about right than to be precisely wrong.

We have had a stolen election. The Republican party leadership has not rallied in defense of President Donald Trump. The FBI has morphed into the KGB. Biden is a corrupt dictator. At least half the populace accepts whatever they hear from the propaganda machine. It’s a sad time. Even agnostics should pray for a providential God.

At first you had to be a land owner to vote. In other words you had to have a stake in the society and hopefully a longer view.
