Detroit's reparations task force has been rocked by two resignations less than a year after it was created.
Co-leader Lauren Hood said that along with southwest city representative Maurice Weeks, she had been considering leaving for months due to the group 'lacking a broad strategic vision'.
'I think, collectively, that group of people has different ideas about what reparations is fundamentally and we didn't get to a place where we had a broad strategic vision,' Hood told the Detroit News.
The task force was given a $350,000 budget to develop recommendations for housing and economic programs which 'address historical discrimination against the Black community in Detroit' according to the City Council website.
City Council leader Mary Sheffield heralded the group's launch in March with a triumphant press conference, flanked by the 13 new recruits including Hood and Weeks.

Wayne County electing BiXiden is reparations enough for a lifetime.

My understanding of the plan was that the citizens of Detroit were going to tax themselves in order to pay themselves, while government bureaucrats get a 20% cut.

“due to the group ‘lacking a broad strategic vision”.
Yea. The folks in Detroit are moving forward with there own Vision. Away from the Past, and not the promise of the future with Racist division. Time to move on, and that's what people of all stripes are, and have been doing in Detroit. Quite a Renaissance going on Downtown, and the neighborhoods. Props to Mayor Duggan,Police Chief & City Counsel.

“Gimme” is neither a detailed, sensible and workable policy, nor particularly wise, and certainly nor economically feasible.

You mean “Gimme dat” isn’t a broad strategic vision? Who knew?
Or maybe they are frustrated that there isn’t anything of value left in Detroit to confiscate?

I wish the best to the city of Detroit. That is where I grew up a ‘thousand’ years ago. St. Cecilia Grade School, then Cass Tech High School downtown. 1974 Grad. It was a different world back then, in so many ways. I still recall the 1967 Riots.

No doubt man. I don't deny that reality. Bad times. My observations are my own, and since 2016 I don't believe the transformation myself. Still a Little Big City with all the problems associated with Urban life. That being said. I see a definite step in the right direction.

    "task force"
Detroit is not without its racist black militant, racist black Muslim extremists, murderous gangs and the mentally ill. Don't let the smooth taste fool you. Local news channels still love to talk about the big comeback but at the same time there are always these pleas for "giving back to the community", and you may never really know where your suburban generosity will end up. Downtown gets most of the attention and it's designed to give the appearance of major successes coming home to roost, when in typical residential areas there is nothing for them to be so proud of. Detroit appears to be a city on the move but it never seems to move beyond perpetual comeback mode, and so it raises the question, "Why is that?".

    ” First, get the money.”
Get the money - They did. Thirteen members got to divvy up the $350k budget. The money ran out so the rats are fleeing.
