To me, the best song of the the 90's, was"You Get what you get",, by The New Radicals.

Not much ‘90s time for SRV!

Stephen Ray Vaughan (also known as SRV; October 3, 1954 - August 27, 1990)

Every decade has the songs that define the era and the songs that made it on the charts, which are not the same things.

The songs that defined the 90's were grunge. These songs didn't always chart like those acts that had developed a following in previous decades like Elton John, Billy Joel, Mariah Carey, etc.

These lists are always lame. I guess they had to put a Nirvana song on top, but you have to go way down the list to find another grunge song.

I’m wondering if there were even 100 good songs in the 1990s, let alone best songs.

Absolutely, hands down, no question about it:

Rammstein, Du Hast

Everything else is easy listening. Or bad pop with a fiddle.

Have only heard about two and don’t care.

It just so happens that about 1990 I signed off on listening to pop music and country. The last one I listened to, about 1990, when it was current, was “Silent Running” which I still like. After that one, everything hit the skids, as far as I was concerned.

A decade bereft of great music as proven by #2 the Macarena.

Linger by the Cranberries is a beautiful song just because of Delores O’Reardon and her strong Irish accent that comes out in her vocals. I hate to admit it but I do like Vision of Love by Mariah Carey.

The rest of it is pretty forgettable.

This thread is a great reminder that music from the 90’s generally stinks on ice.

I got to number 2, Macarena, and knew their criteria for best song was vastly different than mine.

Despite being rap, not having Big Pimpin and The Real Slim Shady proves the list is garbage. They also left out Two Princes.
