The holidays are a time of joy and merriment. They’re also a time to be in our feels, and sometimes that’s really, really depressing. We’re not going to get all sappy on you, but even car folks shed a tear from time to time. Usually it’s from banging our fingers against the inner wall of a steel fender, sometimes it’s from selling off that project you swore you’d never sell, and every so often it’s because of a commercial. You know, a real tear-jerker.
Chevrolet has chopped the proverbial onions right in front of us a number of times now, and today they’ve aired their 2023 A Holiday to Remember longform TV spot.

I hope someone applied a fresh piece of splicing tape at the channel break on the John Denver 8-Track.
The ad is sweet, but it makes me want to buy a 50 year old Suburban with no shoulder belts.
I LOVE the front bench seat.

Very touching. Meijer had a good Christmas ad last year, too. I called their corporate office to compliment them. Fam8ly is the core of a civilized society.

Yup. For GMs I would take a well outfitted '65 Pontiac GTO or maybe an Olds 98 or Buick Electra for my daily driver, but the Suburban with a four barrel and a 350 will be fine for family trips and hauling people and things.

When the Union that makes the cars are a bunch evil communist, I don’t care if the product is good or not. I won’t buy anything made by the UAW.

Sorry, but it is a sign of terminal brand decline when they start using their vintage models to try to sell their current models.
Past examples includes Cadillac, Jaguar, Acura, Saab...
Never a good sign.

It is not nostalgia if there isn’t a “CLUNK” in the middle of a song played on a 8-track.

Somewhat manipulative, but touching, cathartic & sweet. The John Denver song makes me cry anyway... but yeah...
