‘Experts’ predicted a ‘near-normal’ hurricane season before changing forecast mid-season... still got it wrong
American Thinker ^ | 13 Nov, 2023 | Jack Hellner

No this is not satire, the propaganda machine is just growing increasingly stupid.

In May, the “experts” at NOAA predicted the likeliest scenario for the upcoming hurricane season would be a “near-normal” one:

NOAA’s outlook for the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season, which goes from June 1 to November 30, predicts a 40% chance of a near-normal season, a 30% chance of an above-normal season and a 30% chance of a below-normal season.

‘With a changing climate, the data and expertise NOAA provides to emergency managers and partners to support decision-making before, during and after a hurricane has never been more crucial,’ said NOAA Administrator Rick Spinrad, Ph.D.

So essentially, these brilliant scientists are predicting that during “hurricane season” there are likely going to be hurricanes, in some capacity. Does it take experts to predict that? Furthermore, near-normal is also indicative of a manmade climate change?

Why don’t they always predict a severe season if humans, CO2, and our use of natural resources are a compounding and existential threat to the earth?

By August, they upped their predictions because of warm weather:

NOAA forecasters have increased the likelihood of an above-normal Atlantic hurricane season to 60% (increased from the outlook issued in May, which predicted a 30% chance). The likelihood of near-normal activity has decreased to 25%, down from the 40% chances outlined in May’s outlook. This new update gives the Atlantic a 15% chance of seeing a below-normal season.

Somehow, those dire forecasts didn’t come true even though they made them in the middle of the hurricane season.

A whopping three hurricanes hit land in the U.S. I thought the warm water and weather was going to lead to a disastrous year? The forecasters blamed “tricky” weather conditions that made storms hard to predict this year...

It is climate change so less is change too. Somehow less is more and men are women.

Maybe I’ll put in a bid to NOAA to do their hurricane predictions for them, at half price of what they pay who’s doing it now.

“The forecasters blamed “tricky” weather conditions that made storms hard to predict this year...”

Lol. I could have predicted that. What do these people do to justify their paychecks? Regurgitate the Farmer’s Almanac?

Yes, but facts mean nothing to Leftists.

If they have a fear of hurricanes that could be caused by climate change as opined by the most corrupt of “scientists”, that is all they need to vote as HamasNBC tells them.

NOAA Administrator Rick Spinrad, Ph.D.

Is he an idiot, imbecile, moron or just retarded?

Some day, a meteorologist will explain to the “climate communicators” that “warmer water” alone does not lead to more or stronger hurricanes. But this is a meme they feed to the liberal weenies, who are only too happy to suck it down.

There was only one spectacularly dangerous hurricane this year, Otis, which struck Acapulco unexpectedly as a CAT 5 hurricane when it went from CAT 1 to 5 just before landfall. The damage to that city is so severe it may take 4-5 years to recover.

Does anyone remember that in the ten years after Katrina, there were no serious hurricanes?

There are 3 weather models the US Meteorological Society uses to predict the weather. They typically are within a few % points apart. Predicting a 40%-30%-30% hurricane season is their best guess.

I’m old enough to remember when climate change meant we were to expect more hurricanes. Later, no greater number of storms, but those we did get would be more intense. Now I’m just confused and don’t know what to panic about. Alas

BS, they predicted an above average season just like they do every year.
Then when proven wrong its crickets…

I thought it was only 7 years and XXX days left. I did not bother to participate in the countdown because I know that when it does not happen it will be because of something brilliant that Joe Biden did.

WEATHER IS NOT CLIMATE!!

Until it’s convenient and scary, and then climate is weather all the time. When weather is pleasant it’s not climate again.

Despicable lying grifters, the lot of them

Experts...We had an old joke in the military about them...

Ex = former

Spurt = water under pressure

"Experts" therefore are unknown drips under pressure.

I used to sail Puget sound and the San Juans in WA state a lot. I spent years listening to incorrect weather forecasts.
At one Seattle Boat show, I wandered up to the NOAA booth and listened to the employee give his Q&A. I asked in front of a few people, “Is it true you have to be diagnosed as a Pathological liar to get hired as a weather Forecaster in NOAA”? The look on his face was memorable, as was his silence.I said “Naw just kidding” as I left to go look at weather instruments.
