Sustainable weight loss is rarely a quick fix. Aside from getting proper nutrition and regular exercise, there is another important factor to consider that can make all the difference in the long term. Quitting soda will not only help you to lose weight but will also improve your health. When consumed on a regular basis, sugary soda and other high-calorie drinks can lead to obesity and even chronic disease.
Calories in soda add up quickly, regardless of the brand you buy. The calories in Coke, for example, are fairly straightforward if you drink a single can. There are 140 calories and 39 grams (10 teaspoons) of added sugar in a single 12-ounce serving.1 That means Coca-Cola provides about 12 calories per ounce. Most brands of soda have calorie counts that are similar. For instance, the calories in Canada Dry Gi

Totaled the bike :( I really miss that bike. It was great.
“Just try to avoid that splenda crap.”
Thanks, never use it. I watch my kids use that stuff and cringe, but they and I are too old to do the parent thing anymore.

The key to weight loss is blood glucose management. Focus on that, eat the right things, live an active life, and the chub melts off in the right places.
Soda has to go if you want to manage blood sugar.

Great approach!
The “three meals a day” custom is likely from our agricultural past, where intensive physical labor required more food. Our culture today demands much less as we just go to the store to buy food! Thank you, amazing farmers!
You are truly blessed, my brother in Christ.
You want to switch to normal water from there.
Honey makes an awesome lager as well
IMHO I think that soda might cause kidney stones.
Just my opinion
Why? Is there something wrong with carbonation?
No, but even sparkling water has sodium, and isn’t free.
I can use the sodium and nothing is free. Lol
We do water, wine or bourbon.

What you say is true, light exercise isn’t going to burn a lot of calories. However it will make you feel better and does have other benefits. Even walking about 7,000 steps a day will make you feel much better, increase your circulation and it’s correlated with longevity.
One easy way to cut back on soda is to mix the soda with carbonated water. It doesn’t work for everyone but it works real well for some.
#61 But now you are taking morphine.... : )
I’m glad that modern hardware is working out for you! I also have some medical-related things that have helped me that were not available 50 years ago. As I am slouching towards old age, I find I have done real well in some things, kind of poorly in other things.
I was reacting to the article and people who have said to me, “I was eating [soft food because it is all they can eat] and a tooth fell out” like it is a rather normal thing. I think that is a high price to pay for years of enjoying soft drinks and too much candy when really being just moderate about such things would have helped a lot.

Very true. And once you are used to regularly doing light exercises you will probably feel like doing more. Saying, “this light exercise will only burn x calories and that is not enough so I might as well not try” is short-sighted. Once you are used to light exercises where they become routine you may find yourself ready to take the next step, whatever that is, depending on what your health situation allows.
