how insane do you have to be to defend Vlad the Invader's "special military operation" in Ukraine?

Not our business. Not our fight. And how is it that you become apoplectic over the sovereignty of Ukraine's border when your liberal democracy has taken down America's Southern border?

JonPreston: "The Ukraine has been reduced to a pile of bricks, and NATO is a husk of an organization, attached to America, who itself is teetering on a $34 trillion dollar debt.
But cheer on, potato peeler.
What else have you got?"

All that is pure 100-proof nonsense, but it seems to unnaturally excite you, gives you a thrill up your leg to say such BS, doesn't it?

The truth is it will take Russians generations to pay off the debts and reparations they owe for the deaths & destruction in Ukraine.
A bill in Congress now will seize hundreds of billions of dollars of Russian assets to pay for Ukraine reconstruction.
It's a start.

As for NATO, Vlad the Invader has done more to revive NATO as an effective alliance than anyone else, including Donald Trump, could ever imagine.
Today Europeans have contributed far more to Ukraine defenses than has the USA.

Yes, the US national debt is indeed higher than it should be, with about $3 trillion added in just the past two years.
Nearly all of that additional debt came from insane Democrat vote-buying schemes, only about $100 billion in aid to Ukraine over two years, and much of that is simply sending to Ukraine outdated materials soon due for scrap anyway.
So, when our budget is balanced, Ukraine is not a major problem to support at these levels.

How does it feel knowing that you support yet another Biden foreign disaster, this time to the tune of $160bn dollars and counting? This isn’t to mention the hundreds of thousands of lives that could have been saved had Zelenskyy signed the peace terms offered by Moscow in March, 2022? Is it painful being so wrong, so often, and when exactly have you been right about the American military and their participation in endless wars?

Fresh Wind: "True, but those other Youtubers are not being pimped regularly on FR."

There are many YouTubers, dozens at least, who report more or less regularly on Ukraine events.
Denys Davydov is one of the more popular, but in some respects he's similar to many others.

Should I take your words here to mean that you'd be just as vile in name-calling against other pro-Ukraine YouTubers as some FReepers are against this Davydov fellow?
Or is there something special about Davydov that drives you crazier than other YouTubers do?

Fresh Wind: "Keep in mind that supporting the people of Ukraine is not necessarily the same as supporting Zelenskyy and his cabal and supporting the people of Russia is not necessarily the same as supporting Putin and his cabal."

Your problem here is, some of those words are pure Russian propaganda garbage-talk.
In fact, there's a qualitative difference between the constitutionally elected and certified government of Ukraine and Russia's now 24-year corrupt dictatorship under Vlad the Invader.
For starters, neither is a "cabal".
So, to name-call Ukraine's government as a "cabal" is an offense against decency and truthfulness, while calling Vlad the Invader anything other than a murderous dictator is also an offense against decency and truthfulness.

You should know that, so why don't you?

Fresh Wind: "I believe both Putin and Zelenskyy are scumbags, and the world will be better off when both leave the scene."

Well, you're half right -- Vlad the Invader is indeed a scumbag, but Volodymyr Zelenskyy is simply the constitutionally elected leader of his country, defending it against overwhelming numbers of Russian and non-Russian troops illegally ordered to invade Ukraine by Russia's lunatic leadership.

There is no comparison of the two men or countries, no moral equivalences, and when Russians are finally defeated, they will spend generations paying off the debts and reparations they incurred from their evil insanities in Ukraine.

Those are facts. You should learn them and love them.

Rocco DiPippo: "From now on, my automatic response to your Youkazoidal drivel. . ."

I see now you've gone bonkers on us, typical of our pro-Russian propagandists, who have no facts to offer, no serious reasons or logic, no values to defend, all you have is ever more bizarre insults and mockeries.

It's why your side must lose this argument (because you have no arguments) and eventually the war in Ukraine.

kirandil quoting: "Ukraine will eventually be admitted into NATO"

kirandil: "Amazing what they'll believe if they leave CNN on in the background of their daily lives..."

It's nothing to do with CNN.
In due time Vlad the Invader's forces will be defeated, Ukraine will join the EU and eventually even NATO.
And that will all be thanks to the work of Russia's Vlad the Invader.
Nobody else could have accomplished such an amazing turn of events.

Count on it, mark my words.

Worldtraveler once upon a time: "Agreed.
Further, not only are Zelensky and Putin scumbags, but we need keep in mind Biden, Blinken, Nuland, and the EU Commission scum bags like von der Leyen and Borrell, and then think of the UN scumbag, Gutiérrez, and the NATO chief scumbag, Stoltenberg.
The scum scam."

All of that is 100% irrelevant.
The only things that seriously matter here are Vlad the Invader's illegal "special military operations" into Ukraine.
Those have to be defeated, regardless of how worthy or unworthy you fantasize other countries might be.
So you can bellow "scumbag" all you wish, it's all irrelevant nonsense.

It's always a sign that they are out of fact or logic based arguments and so must resort to the lowest of the low insults & mockery.

tennmountainman: "If Everyday Ukraine wins ALL BATTLES, Sinks ALL Russian Ships, Kills Thousands of Russian Solders, where are the Ukraine Victory Parades?"

Seriously?
Nobody claims that Ukraine has won back all the lands Vlad the Invader illegally seized in 2014 and 2022.
Ukrainians did win back roughly half of what Vlad seized in 2022, and Ukrainians have not lost significant additional territories.

Ukrainians have also chased the Russian navy out of Crimea, plus many headquarters and weapons depots out of the Donbas, which is important.

But nobody except devoted Putinistas have ever claimed the war itself is won and over.

JonPreston: "Not our business.

Sadly, western civilization is now perceived as weak and is being attacked on multiple fronts, both from within and without.
If you imagine the metaphor of a ship with a hole in its side -- which is more dangerous, the water outside or the water inside?
They are both equally dangerous.

If you remember World War Two, we had multiple theaters of operations, from Pacific naval battles & island-hopping to Burma and China, to Africa, Italy and France, to the Atlantic U-boat war, plus aid to our allies like the UK and USSR, not to mention "home-front" campaigns to recapitalize our economy onto a total-war footing.

You may also remember that in the earlier years, before 1942, we and our allies never won a major battle.
The bad-guys defeated us everywhere, we barely even slowed them down, so victory was not automatic or easy, certainly not seemingly at the time.

I'm calling today "Cold War II" and it seems remarkably similar to the middle & late 1930s, when the Axis powers were waging war against our friends around the world, but we were still determined to stay out of it.

The result was it took a desperate existential war, costing tens of millions of lives to finally defeat the original WWII Axis of Evil.

JonPreston: "How does it feel knowing that you support yet another Biden foreign disaster, this time to the tune of $160bn dollars and counting?"

Total US aid to Ukraine is now circa $100 billion over two years, or roughly $50 billion per year.
The White House asked Congress to approve another $24 billion for next year.
Much of this money is used to replace old US stocks of weapons and ammunition sent to Ukraine.
Total western aid to Ukraine, including the EU, is said to be circa $350 billion.

The US defense budget is around $900 billion per year and we also spend several trillions per year on Democrat vote-buying schemes.
So Ukraine is relatively a drop in the bucket.

As for what is, or is not, "disastrous", that is yet to be determined.
Ukrainians themselves, by all accounts believe that submission to the deadly embrace of "mother Russia" would be a genocidal disaster for them.

JonPreston: "This isn’t to mention the hundreds of thousands of lives that could have been saved had Zelenskyy signed the peace terms offered by Moscow in March, 2022? "

As best I can tell, that whole story is a recent Russian propaganda lie.
The truth is that Vlad the Invader himself rejected reasonable peace terms in early 2022, but then in 2023 has tried to flip the story, making it sound like Ukrainians rejected peace because that's what Americans told them to do.

It's all just nonsense.

JonPreston: "Is it painful being so wrong, so often, and when exactly have you been right about the American military and their participation in endless wars?"

By my count the USA has participated in 107 "endless wars" since 1775 including:

  1. 4 in the 1700s (0 defeats)
  2. 60 in the 1800s (3 defeats)
  3. 31 in the 1900s (7 defeats)
  4. 12 in the 2000s (1 defeat)
These numbers count major wars like the Civil War and World Wars as just one war each, though it does not count the Cold War as just one war, even though it was a major victory in 1991.

JonPreston on WWII: "Isn't that where America was attacked, and Germany declared war on US?"

Yes, but that was after the original Axis of Evil had waged war against our friends and allies for well over six years, while we kept our heads buried in the sand pretending that we could ignore it.

Just as today, during the 1930s a relatively weak Axis of Evil waged war on our smaller friends & allies, while we stood by and effectively did nothing to stop them.

The result was it took nearly six years of total war with tens of millions killed to stop Axis powers which could have been stopped much easier in the 1930s.

That is the basic lesson of WWII, which nobody until very recent times forgot or ignored.

In the case of Japan, many say we provoked their attack

Regarding the rest of your comment, opinion isn't enough.

Now once again, please tell the forum what was the last successful American military intervention in the last 40 years.
