Yes, but that was after the original Axis of Evil had waged war against our friends and allies for well over six years, while we kept our heads buried in the sand pretending that we could ignore it.

• The Japanese Imperial invasion of China began 10 years before Pearl Harbor.

• The Italian fascists' invasion of Ethiopia began 6 years before Pearl Harbor.

• The Nazi occupation of the Rhineland began 5 years before Pearl Harbor.

Just as today, during the 1930s a relatively weak Axis of Evil waged war on our smaller friends & allies, while we stood by and effectively did nothing to stop them.

The result was it took nearly six years of total war with tens of millions killed to stop Axis powers which could have been stopped much easier in the 1930s.

That is the basic lesson of WWII, which nobody until very recent times forgot or ignored.
