Truly peaceful people don’t engage in war unless they absolutely have to. Being ready for it and dealing with one-off problems isn’t the same thing as the scale of where it is now. Its always because those who aren’t soldiers, the young, the elderly, the weaker, are taken into account, even though it might make a future war harder. Minimizing collateral damage is usually a key difference between people who really don’t want war from those who.

The only solution in this situation is a military solution. As long as the radical Moslems have weapons and are able to kill Jews they will. Moslems believe that once a territory or nation or even a plot of ground has been owned or ruled by Moslems then it can never be anything else. If a non Moslem occupies land that was once Moslem then according to Islam that person can and should be killed. The Moslems believe that the Jews are occupying land that once was Moslem therefore they deserve death. That is why they don’t call the people in Israel or the Country of Israel by the name “Israel” instead they call them “The occupying entity”. In this case war is unfortunately the only option for peace.

There are moderate Moslems, Egypt for instance who would like for the Occupying entity to be removed but understand the reality of the situation and are willing to work with Israel and even call them by name.

I hope that once the radicals are thinned out and life in Gaza can return to normal perhaps with Israel ruling the place prosperity can come to Gaze and then just maybe the people won’t be so radical, perhaps won’t be willing to risk everything for such a murderous cause. I am not however holding my breath.

The military solution buys time to figure out the long term solution. Allowing Hamas to retain a military capability is a non-starter. Eradicating the military infrastructure and decapitating the leadership of Hamas are the prerequisites of a long term solution.
